I haven't seen too much about it on this site.

Man it hurts just to read that Hedley is probably the biggest band in Canada

just a strange comparison, that's all.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

    It's a pretty accurate comparison

I will also say that comparing the two is not equating the two but merely pointing out that the same power structures inform those beliefs and the same reasoning is used to defend them. White supremacy is obviously a much more dangerous and wide spread problem.

no it's not and it's certainly not worth any sort of comment on your part

start the countdown until they get removed (hopefully). why do these fests even book bands like that when the backlash is almost definitely going to result in removal or dropping out

Because apparently festival Booker's are bad at thier jobs and don't do any research before making offers.

i don't think moose blood is going to get removed tbh

unless they lose a court case i think bookers will just leave this as "allegations" and nothing different will happen. especially since there weren't any allegations of actual physical abuse/harm

I think you’re right. I only think they’ll be removed if a guilty verdict ends up being brought down. But even then, who knows.

it's not even a guilty one, it's a civil suit directed at silencing the victim. basically, if that case is dropped because it shows that they did it (and it gets enough publicity, that's also a big one) then maybe they'll start getting dropped. but i also wouldn't be surprised if it never even goes to court and nothing ever happens here

That’s true, I didn’t even think about it like that. Bummer.

Which is why people who care need to make a stand and actively not support them or any fest or tour they are on. I think that's the only way we can make any progress.

Sure, you might miss your favorite band if they are at the same fest, but this is so much bigger than anyones favorite band.

It would be great if the bands on the lineup who are usually vocal about this kind of thing said something about being uncomfortable having them on the bill. Might make even more of a difference than fans expressing disappointment.

what sort of bands on that lineup ever make a legitimate stand about this??? Even ETID was hyped to play warped

The only ones I can even slightly see taking a stand is pvris, maybe knuckle puck or save ferris. maybe stand atlantic? None of the big name bands I can see saying or doing anything.

The moose blood thing is so well known I have a hard time believing it wasn't known by someone in the decision making process. I usually give the benefit of the doubt in that regard too but highly publicized occurances are hard to believe someone didn't know

Enough backlash from fans can definitely put pressure on organizers and bands to drop out regardless of legality. That French guy who killed his girlfriend and did time for it dropped out of a festival on his own accord after the organizers said they were keeping him because pressure was so great on the organizers

  23. cwhit

enough backlash from fans, sure. but it would have to get significantly more intense than right now, and without any new news i can't see pressure getting tighter

Has moose blood even faced any real backlash about this after they kicked out their drummer? It really seems like they really just avoided any real consequence, and there's so little public discussion about this vs. bands whove done similar things. Even a band like McCafferty who typically tours within a scene that's pretty sensitive towards these issues hasn't dropped off that tour or said anything.

other than that one group that dropped out a festival, nothing publicly. i do see lots of fans on their posts very unhappy but not like a majority or anything
