Digging My Own Grave wouldn't be out of place on a Dustin solo record. Could probably fit in seamlessly into Please Come Home.

He did have a point, kind of, like, what if we went to the label's secure location and just sat in a room – a la some kind of Amsterdamian peep show – and just paid to listen from start to finish. There is that two month gap between a record's completion and release where the band is basically waiting on plants and factories.

I bet labels could make serious coin if they leveraged the overzealous fans who'd rather hear it as soon as possible without any risk of leakage.

It'll never happen, but there is something to be said about making those 2 months count more than they do. It's certainly better than a weekly 10 second snippet.

Does anybody stream albums in advance anymore? Has that gone away? I can't remember that last time I streamed a record 2 weeks before release.

Some bands do listening parties now. I did that for Manchester orchestras last album and it was pretty awesome

 

I’m still mad about it.

 

If Lucasfilm offered exclusive screenings at their HQ 6 months ahead of Episode IX's release, people would be getting second mortgages to afford whatever king's ransom they'd be asking.

Obviously, you'd have to sign your life away to where you couldn't reveal anything (which is why it'll never happen in movies).

But, that's why the music industry COULD, in theory, offer some kind exclusive streaming experience/party with phones checked at the door. (You can't spoil music; you can leak it, yes.)

I really wanna ask some label folks about this. I mean, somebody has gotta find a way to put money back into the hands of blue-collar bands. Exploiting die-hard fans' impatience doesn't have the greatest optics, but we're getting ripped on most concert tickets and merch without anyone batting an eyelash.

I want KENZBOOM to own a G4. I want the Wreckinbridges to own their own bridges. I want Teppow to have his own Paris fashion week. I want Irvine to be renamed THRICETOWN!

Folks, I listened again to TBEITBN this morning and I def like it better than I remember.

 

Black Honey has over 15 million views on Youtube.

 

And over 21,000,000 streams. Incredible they got this so far into their career. I’m sure it’s really motivated to make the best album to come out this year
