This album has been on repeat for me the last few days. Would be surprised if it's not in my top five end of the year.

I’ve heard way too much good music today, including this

I just have to throw in my praise for this album and this band in particular - I only started listening to them a couple of weeks ago and I am completely in love. I am begging for a NA tour!!

There should be one in June some time. They’re playing 3 Canadian dates and I doubt that’s the only tour they’ll do over here.

This is definitely the most I've enjoyed an album so far this year.

Definitely hoping for more NA dates especially closer to my home but bought a ticket for the Toronto show just in case. Listened to the new album almost non stop traveling from Florida to Hawaii yesterday and now I've got "Sagan-Indiana" trapped in my brain on loop.

I’ve really come around to Sagan-Indiana. It’s constantly stuck in my head now.

Kind of disappointed that I still haven't got into this like I did with the S/T. But at least my clear w/ blue/pink splatter vinyl came in today and it looks great.

Master of not knowing what the hell I'm doing.

Yeah I'm still waiting for this to hit for me because the lyrics are awesome and Georgia's voice has improved massively. Seconded on how awesome the clear/pink/blue splatter vinyl looks.

I’m trying to like this with all of your super positive reviews but I hear average vocals, sub-average production, forgettable instrumentals, decent lyrics and not a whole lot else.

The tone at times almost reminds me of some old school Juliana Theory but idk. I see this as just an average band with an average release.

What am I missing?? Is there a story behind the insane hype?

I don’t hate it. It’s a chill vibe and a heavy tone in that you feel the weight of some of the emotion put into it. I just don’t hear the “genius” that is usually associated with this type of hype so I was wondering if there’s some explanation or story behind it.

I basically hear a mix mash of old school Juliana Theory and old school Dashboard.

Oh well - to each their own I guess.

no, my post meant that you just don’t care for the message this record is about. This record wasn’t made for you and that’s totally proven here

I think the vocals, lyrics and just the songwriting in general are all super good. Don't know what else to tell you.

What kind of story would there be? lol.

I listened through half the album while working this morning so I honestly don’t know the “theme or msg” of the album. So for you to say it’s proven that I don’t care about whatever the msg is I’d say is unfair.

I’ll tell you what - I’ll give it my full attention in a bit on break and read through the lyrics first before giving it a fresh listen and see if it hits me harder

I think the vocals are some of the best I’ve heard in a long time, so that argument is totally lost on me.

i mean it's very obvious from the first song. it's an album for all the marginalized people out there who have ever been told off by some random dude. i'm not a huge fan of this record either but it still feels incredibly important right now

Also, you don't have to like everything. I always find it hard to argue with someone along the lines "I wasn't really into this thing", "why not its super good", "I don't think its good", "well it was good dummy so whatvr"

I would say the main selling point is the sincerity in the songwriting, the message behind a lot of these songs, and the pure weight of emotional impact. But after that like, yeah, this band isn't going to be for everyone.

Yea no arguments. I just thought maybe I was missing something more to it. I was reading AOTY posts and honestly I wish I loved it as much. I haven’t been in love with a whole lot of music lately.

I just read through the lyrics and I get the pull some might have to it and it’s relation to feminism, sexual assault, gender identity and all that. These are hugely important issues but the delivery didn’t hit me. Oh well.

Random and off topic (bc I’m talking about lyrics that deal with important current issues) but my favorite song right now happens to be of a genre I never even listen to in rap but the song is “Fly” by Hopsin

I love how blatantly and unashamedly Aussie the vocals are in this. My biggest gripe in music is artists who don't sing in their "own" voice, and do this piss-poor transatlantic fake accents that sound atrocious. It's great to hear strong accents in songs.

If these vocals are average then I'm gonna need to hear what pool you're drawing from that makes Georgia Maq average.

Yo Hopsin is trash, "never listen to rap" and Hopsin seems to be a common occurrence tho, get to the hip hop thread before its too late

Haha I know nothing of him, his other work or of hip hop in general. Just liked the msg in that one track. He may indeed be trash overall.
