Finally making the jump and realising 2014 me's greatest dream, I'm flying over from the UK to Philly to see TWY do a hometown show.
I went to see them for the first time in 2013 in Paris half-reluctantly because I only knew TGG in full but I really liked it. The room was empty and Dan jumped down into the pit and swung some dudes around. It was quality. Now I've seen them nine times in 3 countries and by the end of this run it will be at least 14 times in 5 countries.
Really glad I got Philly tickets, but wish the tour routing made it so I could have grabbed the House of Independents too.

A wonder years Philly show is something special. I feel spoiled being in the area and seeing them grow since 2010...it's been a hell of.a ride. I'll be there as well. Should be a great time!

Oh jeez I haven't listened to that song in a while. I need to change that. Such a jam.

i like that that song continues the "walking in circles" theme thats touched on throughout the album, also gives us a better picture of what Dans grandad was like.

id like to think the buses bound for foreign, distant places mentioned in Sister Cities alludes to that a bit

Definitely! to be honest, transportation is such a big underlayer theme in Dan's writing. It's really interesting (unsurprising, because of touring being such a huge part of his life, but interesting). I like that he used the buses here, because it reinforces the "sister cities" theme : he sees a little bit of himself/his story/his family in this completely foreign city thousands of miles away from his hometown.

Also you're the dude on Genius whose annotation made me aware that Sunday Morning was a song for Bobby Barnett and I got into CWS because of it so big up

The new song just makes me miss TGG days even more. It’s not the worst, but it’s not the best.

I didn’t mind the last album either, but damn did TGG click with me. The bar was set high with that one.

I've been listening to TGG so much lately

I really underrated Teenage Parents when it came out.

  12. Is anyone else anxiously awaiting a high quality vinyl rip of We Look Like Lightning (one that's not clipping)?

i meant to follow up on this and forgot but YES love this song so much. again i know ive gone over this ad nauseum but its eerie how similar my life has been to Dans. i too had very young parents, i remember watching MTV with my mom and aunts when they were all still teenagers. i was at my parents wedding, they got married in my grandmas backyard right before my dad became sick with cancer. i was only like 1 i think, i just vaguely remember tables with white cloth draped over them and people mingling with 90s pop tunes playing from an old radio. its such a visceral memory that is so deeply connected to that song.
