I occasionally work at the Oregon Zoo, they used to have peacocks until a parent complained that they chased their bratty kid. The peacocks never bothered anyone unless the kids were chasing them.

Also, I can back this up after seeing behind the scenes at my zoo. The keepers care A LOT about what they're doing and are doing everything they can to make sure the animals are living the best life possible. Half of the Oregon Zoo has been/is going to be under construction soon to update exhibits to current standards and include information on how humans are affecting their habitats. I've been going to this zoo since I was a little kid, and it's amazing how much it has improved.

I wandered passed one as a child and it chased me while signaling to its geese friends to join the chase.

 

I actually used to take people to zoos as like hangouts or dates.

the previous girl I liked is totally anti zoos so her constantly talking bad about zoos was something I never really thought about.

I then stopped because it felt like she drilled it in my head that they were bad.
