I hate all of you for making me do this.

Somehow nothing from the friggin '59 Sound made the cut. Sheesh.

I'll say this: my favorite number is 22, and I enjoy making 22 song playlists for bands and artists. Gaslight is always hard to whittle things down to 22. Throwing in all of Fallon's stuff and saying 'just 10' is nearly impossible.

Off the top of my head, it's probably:

    The Backseat
    Here Comes My Man
    Mae
    Dark Places
    Etta James
    The 59 Sound
    Old Haunts
    Behold the Hurricane
    Orphans
    Open All Night

  4. I’m listening to Get Hurt right now and man I can’t help it I love this album.

I became a fan after the release of Handwritten and this was the first album of Fallon’s to look forward to and I’ve gotten so attached to it.

I'm going to want to change this in 24 hours, but off the top of my head and just in chronological order:

We're Getting a Divorce, You Keep the Diner
    Blue Jeans and White T-Shirts
    Great Expectations
    Here's Looking At You, Kid
    She Loves You
    Blood Loss
    Mae
    Halloween (original version)
    Open All Night
    Etta James

Etta James knocks out Howl for me. I also feel terrible for not including Old White Lincoln, Old Haunts, Among Other Foolish Things, and Sleepwalkers, so there's fifteen.

    American Slang
    Bring It On
    Blood Loss
    Mulholland Drive
    Mae
    Nobody Wins
    Etta James

I can't see putting any song that's been out for a week into a top 10 list personally. Not throwing stones, I just need more time with the new album before I can even begin to make those comparisons. Even putting Smoke on my list felt odd and that song is like 3 years old.

  12. Its a good track. Not my favorite on Sleepwalkers. Intro appears to be near identical to Honey Magnolia, but the chorus is pretty good. Not a fan of the outro as it is really the same as both Forget Me Not and Come Wander With Me which come right before it.

Yeah, I don't love Etta as much as everyone else. Good song, not one of the best on the album for me.

For the record, been listening to "Etta James" since early December. Still love it as much as I did the first time.

Craig, just curious, what do you think are the weaker tracks on the album?

My favorite part on the entire record is when he replaces it with 'WILD HORSES!" on the last chorus.

Have to give the Sleepwalkers songs more time to digest. And yeah I might be the only person who included Blue Dahlia but for some reason I just love it to death.

fuck. it’s no secret to most that losing my mother to lung cancer when i was 12 is an inescapable part of my identity, growth as a person, and perspective. it was a two year battle and the diagnosis came what felt like minutes after my father walked out on us for a third and final time after ten years of not getting off of his ass to contribute to the family, claiming a back injury but in reality being a lazy piece of shit. my mother worked numbers i couldn’t exaggerate if I tried, and i was supervised by my sisters. i remember being 8 and seeing one of the few times she cracked over how she couldn’t do anything for herself because she was always so focused on doing everything for us. Brian’s allusions to her being a thematical stitch of this record is really therapeutical. we’ve heard of her before, but not quite in this way and he is more wont to reference his grandmother. so hearing how similar the role his mother has in his mind and aspirations of a future is to the role mine does to my own is incredibly powerful. particularly as i find myself feeling rather displaced lately. ive cried more than a couple of times, and music hasn’t had that effect on me since Touché Amore’s Stage Four.

“I learned you can rise over the cards in your hand,
Mama was a woman and a hard-workin' man.”

Wrecked 'em? Damn near killed 'em!

I was beginning to wonder why no one had included it yet. That song is definitely in my top 10.
