  1. It’s great that “me vs. the highway / and i say / my best years may still be ahead of me” predicated this band’s genre-defining masterpiece

Find it really hard to make these top 10 songs lists, because overplaying has such a big impact.

Eg. I would never put on PTSD now, because I listened to it far too many times before. That said, here's my effort:

    Washington Square Park
    Came Out Swinging
    Coffee Eyes
    Cardinals
    Cul-de-Sac
    Hostels and Brothels
    My Last Semester
    Woke Up Older
    Local Man Ruins Everything
    Hoodie Weather

    Suburbia > Upsides > TGG > NCTH

But that said I still love No Closer to Heaven, it's just the songs don't mean as much to me as on the other records. I wouldn't argue with the idea that it's their 'best' record, just not for me.

Apart from Cardinals, The Bluest Things, IDLWIWT, and I Wanted so Badly are my favourites on there.

I loved it when it came out but Upsides is almost unlistenable to me now.

I still absolutely love The Upsides. Any road trip is immensely improved by throwing it on and belting out every word.

Bar Bands and Melrose Diner are still really good, but yes The Upsides is the album I revisit the least.

NCTH & Suburbia have held up the best for me. I still like the others its just Upsides feels a bit dated, and the back half of TGG wears me out a bit.

Just saw it in a tattoo shop window near the big clock tower in the East End! Guessing the coordinates may have been a little off.

I'll post a pic when I'm home for anyone who wants to see - the letter was T!

Suburbia has held up best imo. Definitely has the most consistently great hooks.

TGG is still their best imo. Can't even begin to describe how much that album affected me and pulled me through one of the worst years of my life. Will always have so much love for this band for releasing that record when they did.

I'm not a big vinyl person by any means, but I really want to pull the trigger on this new album. The only TWY album I have on vinyl is TGG pre-order from several years back and the quality of that LP is noticeably subpar compared to my other records. Was the length of TGG not conducive to being pressed on one record or was it just a bad press? Can't help but notice that a 2xLP press of TGG came out in 2015. Anyone else concerned about potential quality issues with this record or am I off-base?

  17. it should have never been pressed on a single LP because that’s like 25 minutes per side. i have the new pressing and it sounds waaaaay better

Trying to limit how many times I listen to sister cities. It’s just so damn catchy.

I buy old records when I go to thrift shops and stuff like that, but I don't listen to them. I just like collecting them

Yeah, that's kind of what I was afraid of- which is giving me hesitation in pre-ordering this without knowing the length of the record and quality of the press. I guess I'll check back in with everyone here after 4/6.

The TGG experience has made me leery of pre-ordering vinyl and has tilted my preferences strongly towards 2xLP. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
