Wrecked 'em? Damn near killed 'em!

I'm not sleeping on See You On the Other Side haha that song is one of my favorite closers of his. I got choked up the first time I heard it.

"It's kind of a mash-up of American Slang, Elsie and Painkillers"

I think this is about right.

I've never been into The Gaslight Anthem, so therefore never really checked out Brian's solo stuff but I put on Sleepwalkers this morning and I really like it.

Go Tell Everybody very well might be my favorite Fallon song. Very hard to pick a favorite but that's surely in the running.

Etta James is getting there too. Chorus reminded me of "Blood Loss".

It feels less "dark" than Elsie though, is it just the presence of keys that reminds us of Elsie? Can't put my finger on it yet.

The acoustic guitars sound like Painkillers
    The keys sound like Elsie
The R&B/Soul/Swing bounciness sounds like American Slang minus the punk guitars

It's a good mix of all things Fallon overall which is what I think he was going for, actually

Love the added instrumentation, think I picked up on some mandolin and slide guitar somewhere in there.

Also, the guitar work in the beginning of Come Wander With Me is catchy as all get out.

I really like this album. I loved the early Gaslight albums, but kinda stopped listening to the Brian Fallon records for a while. He won me back, big time.

Can you tell me what this line in the outro of Sleepwalkers is?

"where you and I go walking in our sleep
    ????????????,
honey, ain't this life a pretty little dream"

Lyric sites have it as "ain't this life, woah" but feel like that can't be it.

The song Sleepwalkers feel so very New Orleans where the album was recorderd. Kinda cool.

The first thing I noticed was that "Proof of Life" sounds so much like "Honey Magnolia" with a flare of "Painkillers." I can't pinpoint exactly anything else off a first lesson, but there's a lot of moments where I feel as though I've heard that melody before from Brian. "Watson" is a killer track, by the way.

Anyone receive shipping notification for the deluxe from Brian's store? It always annoys me when I preorder an album and they don't ship it until after release date

  17. As you can tell from my avatar I loved Painkillers.

I adore Brian Fallon. TGA rekindled my love of writing songs.

    This album... eh.

I’ve listened through twice and I’d say if this is one if the first few albums in his career I’d be more excited, but so far it just feels recycled.

I truly hate to say that because I do actually really like the album, but aside from a few little things it’s not really anything new. To me it’s less familiar, more stale if that makes sense.

Without a doubt I will play the heck out of it but here’s hoping Brian steps out of the box just a bit more on the next go round and stops treading the same ground.

I have not. Emailed them this morning to say how pissed I am that I paid $11 for shipping and won't even get it on release day.

I had to email them back and forth like three times to get the preorder code for tickets when I preordered the deluxe vinyl - you know, the thing Brian was putting as a carrot out there to order in a certain timeframe that I was supposed to get automatically. I was absolutely unimpressed then with the customer service, and just assumed I'd get the record sometime in March or something if that was any indication of how they do things.

Which sucks. But I'm not sure what there is to do about it.

"I pretended that my daddy was a bank robber" - in Come Wander With Me Is the best reference to The Clash he's ever peppered into one of his songs. The way he sings bankrobber is too badass and a perfect example as to why this persons music lives in my bones. This is definitely his best writing since Handwritten and with time could end up being a top 3 record from him.

What is Watson in reference to? Am I missing it haha

Watson is the name of Sherlock Holmes' friend/assistant and the narrator of most of those stories. So it fits in with the metaphor of the people who lost their lovers being "detectives".

Such bullshit that we ordered it in late-October and still can't get it on time. What on earth could be the hold-up... They've had four months!
