And yes, Kirk Cousins is breaking $30mil for sure. Hes probably gonna drop a 5yr/$160mil deal with $100+ guaranteed. Which, oddly enough, makes him a genius (for holding out this long) and makes the Skins deal with Alex Smith look not so bad

As long as the majority of the guarantee is in the next two years, which it will be, it's a great deal. 49ers have more money than they can reasonably spend.

Watch him win Super Bowls and silence these criticisms.

I’m telling you guys, Garroppolo is doing shit we haven’t seen from any other QB below the age of 35. It’s been awhile since Ive seen a new starting QB understand the game at this level.

A back up QB just won the Super Bowl MVP. There is no reason to let someone con you like Jimmy G or Stafford or Cousins. You wanna be paid like the best before being one of the best? You can try your luck elsewhere.

Brock Osweiler, off about as much useful game footage, got a 4yr/$72mil deal with $37 guaranteed...now 2 years later, we've doubled that.

    1. He's not new lol
    2. He's been under Brady for four years lol
    3. The criticism will be the same. This is a stupid , unearned deal.

Why does that discredit him? To me that just makes him more worth paying lmao

And yes he is a new starter. Right about at contract year age is what I meant.

He hasn't even had one full year as a starter. There is no way to argue this is an intelligent thing to do lol.

Wentz was doing it literally 2-3 months ago.

Jimmy G also turns 27 early next season, its not like he is some 22 year old kid

Wentz has been pretty god damn good at reading a defense and changing at the line. Of course Wentz is a master at improvisation as you stated but he's not some dude up there chewing on rocks. He's been lauded for his pre-snap reads/commands.

I love Brady but man I’ll always wonder if Garoppolo was only a few years younger if the Pats could have been set for decades. Much to the dismay of almost every other person in this thread.

Is franchise tagging not an option? I just don't get it.

QB gets paid. People overreact. No real long term salary cap problems result. Rinse. Repeat.

Not doing this Wentz argument again. Eagles scheme does a lot to get the most out of him. He’s a great improviser. But he goes through limited reads. Jimmy is already running a full scale west coast offense.

My opinion is, you find a guy that can do that, go get him at all costs.

Most #1 overall draft pick QB can spend 10 years in the league and still not have the vision and efficiency that Jimmy has shown in those games. He gets rid of the ball FAST, he looks off the safeties and linebackers, he reads the whole field and will throw to option 3 or 4 if the coverage is good.

I meant it when I said I thought he was the real deal & I don’t care if it’s an unpopular opinion now. SF drafted a lot of young talent but at the same time they’re not yet up with the rest of the league. Jimmy would have straight up carried them to the playoffs if he had a whole season.

It's a bad contract lol. It's not an overreaction to say that maybe someone with less than a full year of starting experience shouldn't be the highest paid player in history.

You'll be signing those enormous checks while watching the playoffs at home.

Again, I love the scheme argument lol.

"Eagles scheme does a lot to get the most out of him."

ISN'T THAT THE FUCKING POINT OF DRAFTING A QB TO YOUR TEAM?

With this being said, Wentz is going to get north of 200M since Cousins, Rodgers, Brees, Winston, Mariota, and Newton are all going to get new deals before his. Christ.

If it's basically structured as a year to year team option, it's a great contract. If theres low guaranteed money its a great contract. Dollar amounts don't matter.
