I was also wondering why Jensen somehow was found inside that panel with all those wires in her; this guy says something to do with the ship being in a slightly different position, or something

yeah it gives more backstory on some things, especially the monster, and i was kinda hoping this movie would be an adaptation of that.

what does the ending shot imply? that theyve somehow brought the monster into their universe? its way bigger than the original monster so i guess its an adult but i still dont really understand why its there other than "hey look its the monster again oooo spooky alright thanks for watching bye"

The girl the guy saved served the plot in no way whatsoever

everything with the dude on Earth felt so tacked on it's unbelievable. Every time they went back to him I was like oh shit I forgot about that dude

Chris O'Dowd and that Arm are the best part of the movie, even though it makes no fucking sense.

    put O'Dowd in everything though

I thought this was okay. Execution was kind of lackluster but I like the premise. Wasn’t the little girl supposed to be Jensen or was that cut that they did from her face to Jensen’s intentionally misleading?

love how they provided all the exposition about what made the Shepard dangerous to reality in a news report being played on the ship right before they hit the ignition and then it all happens

Why doesn't Jensen just shoot Hamilton instead of knocking her unconscious with the gun? She shoots Monk and Schmidt right after so it's not like she has a problem with killing. The only purpose it serves is to let Hamilton wake up (literally seconds after being knocked unconscious) and stop her.

Jeez, I thought this was a fun movie. But I also went into it with no expectations, without having seen the second Cloverfield movie, and also not having seen the original movie since it came out. *shrug*

I'll probably go watch the second movie now, though.

You've never seen 10 Cloverfield Lane?! Get Ready for a genuinely great movie.

We doing rankings? Let's do rankings. They're easy.

    10CL > Cloverfield >>>>>>>> The Cloverfield Paradox

They were close friends so she was hesitant, her whole family sent her a plot device video saying they love her, where they were just cute and smiling and hugging each other for maybe five straight minutes no talking

eh, as producer. It has a 6.6 on imdb which is more valuable than rt anyway

Really? I always thought IMDB was the least reliable. Seems like a lot of toxic users voting on that site before even seeing the movie. Interesting

I’m not entirely sure why this film is getting the hate that it’s getting, but at the end of the day everybody IS entitled to their own opinions. I found this to be very terrifying and well-executed for what it was. I understand how some people found things to be very over-the-top (ie Mundy’s arm), but I thought they went with the plot and found no issues with them at all.

I actually liked the over the top stuff. I thought they set a good basis for why reality would be unstable and honestly wish they leaned into it a little bit more

They did that thing that drives me crazy where they’re watching home video but, like, someone edited a bunch of shots together from various angles so it’s a really well produced home movie.

That's exactly where my mind was going. Literally every time they ended a scene with the little girl it went straight to a close up of Jensen's face. I mean if not, what the hell was the point of the little girl?

There are definitely toxic users and some movie ratings suffer from overinflation by fanboys. But RT's quality control is really lacking to the point where 70% of the outlets they use are just as reliable as cinephile carl leaving an imdb review. Letterboxd is also a step up but gets way less use.
