I saw someone point out that the original ad probably didn't say right after the game because they're essentially advertising something on another network in the post super bowl slot

Would've been tight if they ended it with "Fuck this league, WATCH IT NOW"

Yea keep in mind networks hosting the Super Bowl always have special programming to keep the record-breaking audience to not switch the channel (this case NBC and This Is Us)

I’ve said this mutiple times, but I’ll say it again. 10CL could technically be related to the first, and I don’t see why that’s hard to follow. All the pieces are there. I always see it as that is the aftermath of the monster. The other monsters/aliens or whatever are the foot soldiers or something. I guess we’ll see when we watch TCP.

yeah I thought that was pretty obvious

That only makes sense if the monster from the original film wasn't a mutated sea creature, like everyone has assumed since 2008. It's not impossible but it would be a significant re-write of the original film's lore from the ARG.

I believe their viral marketing suggests that is the case as well. Can't remember specifics, but something about who Harold worked for..

I think 10CL would've been a thousand times better if she escapes the bunker and discovers the city destroyed by the monster in the first. The War Of The Worlds bullshit didn't work for me

Yeah, Clovie is a sea creature who was awoken from a long sleep by Tagruato’s drilling. I think this one is going to bridge the two films though. Very excited to see how they do that.

See what I think is that it’s an alien that they dropped in the sea either by accident or on purpose. Though whatever that company put in the water reacted with it thus mutating it

But what about the thing that splashes down in Cloverfield 1?

Wasn't there like some chemical or something that they put into Slusho or whatever involved somehow too though?

Then what do we see drop at the end?

I'm assuming it came from the space station that TCP takes place on, not from aliens.

Right. I always thought it was Clovie came from space (splashed down) and THEN was woken up by the drilling

But when it dropped it was only a week or two before the incident yes?

My assumption from when I saw it was that there was something in that thing that crashed that contributed to the monster's awakening/enormous size.

Like, TCP was originally called "The God Particle." Perhaps this "God Particle" is seabed's nectar, which then mutated the monster? Is there anything in the lore that suggests seabed's nectar was always in the water/was in the water before that object crashed?

I think that slushy stuff definitely reacts with that thing that drops thus making it huge, and aggro

Or, I mean, whatever crashed from the station could be what actually woke it up and they just blamed it on drilling to cover up what happened on the space station? Either way, I never got the impression or sense that the monster was alien in any way. Perhaps what caused it to be big and angry was alien, but the monster itself was not.

Oh ok yeah so the thing that crashes isn’t the monster? That could be it too

  23. chewbacca110

    "I'll chew on a dog!"

I agree that the thing crashing in the water is from this space station and wakes up the creature.

the plot summary on netflix hints at the satellite and what caused the monster the be that size
