FUCKIN SAVAGES IN THAT FUCKIN BOX Prestigious

Yeah I mean Santana got 20 mil a year. I think it was reported JD was offered I think 125 for 5? For someone who is going to be a DH at least half his contract, that's plenty fair. 7 years is too much. It's been said Darvish is waiting to see if the Yankees or Dodgers will clear space. Everybody thinks Arrieta will decline fast. And didn't Hosmer have 7 year offers from KC and SD? There are too many teams not spending enough, and I agree with a lot of what Boras has said about baseball in general but this is on him too.

i concur with what i've seen most people say is that they have to make changes to the way players get paid early on. Arbitration needs to come earlier or something like that. You want the Jacob DeGrom's of the world to get paid NOW, while he's one of the best pitchers in baseball, not when he becomes a free agent and you know his best years are behind him.

  3. another agent take:

MLB really needs a better union. Manfred is very skilled and experienced in negotiating against labor as well, so that's an extra disadvantage. i don't want it for obvious reasons but they should probably strike imo

Is it bad that I don’t feel for the free agents not being signed?

Hell I'm more excited just for the relievers available next year than I ever was for this year's entire free agent class

    Zach Britton
    David Robertson
    Cody Allen
    A.J. Ramos
    Craig Kimbrel
    Andrew Miller
    Kelvin Herrera
    Jeurys Familia
    Brad Ziegler

Come back to NY Andrew lol

  10. Yes, it's bad for you to be siding with the billionaires instead of the millionaires (and, as the agent testimonies linked yesterday indicate, the borderline or minor league free agents all the way down to A-ball who don't even make a living wage and are being harmed by this).

It's just hard to adjust to changing the mindset towards contracts. Like the players probably do deserve to make more money overall but I don't know one person who thinks the top free agents this year should get what they're asking. It's hard to imagine there not being a strike next time. Something does need to change for sure though. More money should be going back into the teams and less to the owners.

  12. But the solution to that is a more labor friendly cba! If you want to get rid of contracts where the back end is an all-but-guaranteed $25-$35m of dead money for 2-3 years, the way to do it is make free agency come sooner so players are signing those contracts at the beginning of their peak instead of the end. Players getting to FA sooner means its more likely they make money closer to their real value in both directions over their career. Being on the side of the players in this situation doesn't mean you have to want your team to give Hosmer $175m but wanting a more fair system overall.

Hosmer & JD & whoever are probably (or not) going to sign player friendly contracts but 1. they're based on the market created by the terms of successive team-friendly CBAs and 2. the alternative is not that money going to more deserving players or, likely, even team operations, but the owners' pockets.

17 mil is a great price for him. Very psyched for this. Fills a huge hole for them.

I was so worried the Mets wouldn't sign him. I am so god damn happy, and weirdly excited for this team.

Its true, even if Wright got healthy, I still want Frazier as the everyday third basemen. But, shit was that painful to admit

Wright's reliable playing days are behind him, he should officially retire and join the team as a coach. His passion for the game is unmatched and he loves this team and this organization. He can help them in different ways, I am sure.
