This movie was fantastic. A little disappointed with the liberties they took making this movie between the comics...but all in all it was great.

Watched The Winter Soldier last week, and this tonight. Thought this was a ton of fun, but def prefer TWS.

    Stoked for Black Panther movie.

Can someone catch me up on the major differences between this, and Civil War in the comics?

It's a whole different story. The premise of the comic is that a group of minor superheroes causes an explosion that kills 600 people and causes the government to move forward with an act requiring superheroes to register their identities and work as government agents. And then of course it becomes a battle between those who support it and those who don't.

So it covers some of the same themes and has a similar basic premise, but it's an entirely different story.

Plus the ending...I don't want to spoil anything but if you do a couple searches you'll see what I'm talking about.

Every argument I've heard to Civil War's detriment seems to be an argument that can be made about a solid 90% of comic book stories in general. Plot holes, nonsensical decisions, etc. which to me kind of says this movie is doing it's job, and doing it well.

I liked it but was hoping for the comic book ending. The whole conflict seemed to be without consequences. War Machine is slightly paralyzed? Who cares? Once he's in the suit it probably won't even matter. We needed a hero death to show us that these characters aren't all untouchable movie to movie.

What comic ending are you guys talking about? The end of the book is identical.

The last panel is him getting arrested and handing the mask to Punisher.

I pulled out the book to double check. lol

Agreed, I still watch Winter Soldier all the time (Starz plays it all the time) and I prefer it to CW. I mean the highway scene in WS alone, is in my opinion, better than the airport scene in CW

Cap dies in his series in the aftermath of Civil War. And, I don't think he should have died in this film. End this film with them on rough terms, have them make amends in Infinity War 1, and have one of them die (I vote Tony) in Infinity War 2.

  16. Henry is right. That event didn't technically happen until after Civil War, and it kicked off a whole new plot of events.

there are consequences though, Tony is momentarily humbled and realizes that people die as a result of his actions

Tony remains the best character for me. I'dvote for Steve to die. Heh.

    NO. BOO.

They keep claiming that Infinity War is the culmination of Phase 1-3, and that Phase 4 will look quite different. I think that, after 9 films across 12 years, that'd be the perfect time to end RDJ's journey. His film started this journey, so why can't his death end this era? Plus, I think this would be a good time for that in his story.

Steve, on the other hand, seems ready to move up in the world. He's been a soldier this whole time, but I think his narrative is positioned well for a Fury-type leadership role going forward.

I don't know if I could see these movies without Iron Man. Maybe someone else could step up, like maybe Rhodey pays more of an active role... But I'd miss Tony's snark (lol) and roguish charm.

To be clear :antman: is still my favorite character but :ironman: is the best developed. :blackwidow: is also improving as a character

Cap's death is in the Captain America epilogue series, not the event

The Russo's accomplished with this and especially Winter Soldier what I never thought possible; they made Captain America one of my favorite super heroes. Even in Joss's hands, Cap still came off rather lame. I can honestly say I find Evan's Steve Rogers incredibly endearing now, to the point that while I objectively agreed with Tony in Civil War, I rooted for Cap's. Idk if it's more because of the Marcus and McFeely's writing or Russos' direction, but Cap comes off so much more conflicted and less one-note than his Avenger's appearances. I'm sure there will be people that disagree with me, but I think it's a huge accomplishment that they made my opinion of Cap go from lamest Marvel hero to my favorite.

    >-pI believe you! I've never read any of the books. Just a lot of stuff on the internet said that he dies in this story line so I assumed it was true. And I stand by the thought that they need to kill off one of their characters to prevent the series from growing stale.

    Might be Spider-Man...

Out of all the MCU films, Captain Americas are the most well done. I know the first ones not perfect, but I think it's pretty clear
