I really enjoyed the band's work up until their last 2 releases, but glad they are still going strong. I will always stand by their first 7 albums.

 

At this point can someone please just make a Papa Roach thread so we can stop seeing this shitty band on the front page of the music forum

I'd agree but my next-door neighbors at my college dorm back in '09 blasted that song once a night every night for 2 months straight along with "Empire State of Mind" by Jay-Z so I'm good with never hearing either one again haha

 

Turned on the radio this morning for the first time in months and Out Of Mana was on. Didn’t like it as much this time.

 

what station were you listening to? i definitely never hear bn on the local stations, and only very very rarely catch a song on XM

 

Yeah the Philly alt-rock station played Can't Get It Out a few times when the album came out but I hardly ever hear BN played by them and once the news dropped I haven't ehard it since

My girlfriend is a massive Brand New fan for 15~ years. She's also the survivor of molestation as a young child and rape as an adult. We've spoken about this entire saga at length. Would love to see you tell her if she's allowed to support the band or not (she has decided that she will continue to do so).

If we're getting more granular about what support actually means—obviously spending money on merch on tickets, but is merely listening considered support?—then it gets more foggy.

Yeah I can accept what you said in that last part. When I say support I mean tickets Merch wanting them to continue making music.
The music itself is a grey area because people interpret and attach the songs to their own memories, not necessarily to the messed up man behind the mirror. Sorry for the confusion

 

Whenever they try and release all of their unheard stuff for a cash grab, I will download the leak of it and listen to it by myself and not tell anyone and not give them a single penny.

 

It's funny, when the news broke I was certain I would still return to Brand New's music regularly, and would have to accept that some of my favorite albums were made by a scumbag while listening... But I haven't listened to the band since. I tried throwing on Devil & God once about a week after the news broke to see if I would even want to listen again, and turned it off almost immediately. For this band, their music feels so tainted to me now that I don't think I'll ever feel a cathartic experience listening again.

 

The only album I bought and supported them on was Daisy, but it was by accident. I saw the Fox on the cover and thought it was Crash Bandicoot.....

 

Wish I still had my Playstation to play Crash Bandicoot :(

 

The remaster on PS4 is great! I do wish the old blocky graphics though, those had a certain charm to them.

 

Local rock station here. @Larry David had heard can’t get it out before but I hadn’t. Blew my mind really.

 

No joke, when I left work the day the news broke, it was the first song I heard on there on the way home.

I've been contemplating posting here again since anytime anyone says anything remotely supporting the band they get crucified and I can't believe the convo is still going. But wanted to give my support to Drew here. You have to do what you feel comfortable doing and supporting to the level you feel comfortable supporting.
