The only real qualm i have is saying “Gone Now” is the best pop record of the year when it wasn’t even the best pop record Jack made this year. Lorde eclipses pretty much anything on “Gone Now.”

Love the Julien Baker & Paramore love. Two great albums that both made my top 5.

That Menzingets record is so amazing. Crazy it came out this year. Has 2017 been like 4 years? Dear God.

But, yeah, that record is amazing. One of my favorite lyrical moments ever is the line "I held up a liquor store, demanding top shelf metaphors." That's such a smart and clever line.

Great list, really pleased with how diverse this is. Thanks to @Craig Manning for putting it all together, for letting me write a lil about King Krule and to everyone for being involved.

Thanks guys! Always fun putting this together. Getting it all done was hectic this year, since I'm currently preparing to move to a different city, so thanks to both of you (and the rest of the staff) for getting your blurbs in early.

Awesome to see The Maine up there. Prolly my favourite from this year. That one, Bleachers, Kendrick, and Lorde were all in my top 5. I need to check out the Mezingers's.

Good list although I would have posted it the opposite way. I feel like the anticipation to see who was number one was killed when that was the first thing I saw when I clicked in...oh well. Still fun to read the list!

Even though I feel differently, I can totally understand Chorus not wanting to include that one album on these lists.

That said, Julien Baker may have beaten it out anyway.

I would never have expected an album of this quality from them at all but it's really good.

Yeah. I haven't liked anything of theirs since I was like 17, but this is a massive step up from them.

Side note: As already expressed, I love the diversity of this list genre-wise. I am so happy/never thought I'd see the day King Krule would make our EOTY list and it's a real treat seeing him on there, personally.

Also, I'm so glad both The Menzingers and Sorority Noise are getting their dues. Both put out fantastic albums this year, and I'd argue it's both bands second brilliant albums (maaaaybe third for Menzingers if you are being nice about RW's patchy second half).

Purely out of curiosity, how is the cumulative list made? I figured it would be done like the NCAA Top 25 rankings, using the contributor's lists. Unless I missed it, only 1 person - Craig - had Silverstein ranked, and it was at 25. So how do they end up at 25th on the cumulative list?

Great list guys with a lot of albums I overlooked that I need to dig into. It encompasses a lot of genres to. The albums that I don't like are just genre's and music that just isn't my cup of tea but I suppose I can appreciate their craft and appeal to others (at least that's what the mature me would say. I'll leave my immature thoughts out).

That loneliness is not a function of solitude.

I love these lists and I always create a Spotify playlist of them. Usually I'll find a couple of albums that I missed out on or wouldn't have thought to listen to otherwise. While I'm skeptical of anyone who didn't dip into an existential funk in 2017, it feels like all of the great music that came out and the Nintendo Switch are the only things that kept me sane.

In the year of my dad passing away and Trump, I'm super grateful for The Menzingers and Paramore in particular (but also many other artists) for making albums that let me feel shit other than depression for a while when I listened.
