Always kinda figured KG was going to stay home but I admit, I was getting a little nervous there for a while.

The Irvin situation is weird....I think he ends up staying home and going to USC.

Yeah, the Irvin situation is weird. Lots of information going around, but it's safe to say the latest news on him benefits USC. I did see USC is making a late push (not someone they have been on for a while) on a DB prospect this week so who knows what that actually means with respect to Irvin. Even though Irvin is the higher rated prospect, I think I would rather ND land Boykin (if they can only take one) because he projects as a corner as opposed to safety. ND had a really good safety haul this cycle.

If the guy you are referring to for USC is 5* Talanoa Hufanga from Oregon, he committed to SC tonight. He's more of an ATH so I'm not sure where they are going to play him.

Any way, UW was in the final three for Irvin and we still need to pull a safety in this class so hopefully that is a surprise that becomes a thing but I am not expecting it to happen. But as you said, Irvin is definitely a safety at the next level so if ND is more in search of a true corner, you are right on track with preferring Boykin.

Yeah, that's him. Everything I have read suggests safety to me. And then you look at his size as well. I will be surprised if he winds something other than a safety. I could see him as a rover as well.

I am clearly biased, but I think if you look at ND's safety haul of Allen, Griffith, Simon (S/rover/LB), and Moala it's a pretty good group, especially those top two guys. I like Bracy at CB, but they could use another one since Wilkins (the only other projected CB) is a bit raw. Boykin would just fit the class and the roster's needs more so than Irvin imo. That's not to take anything away from Irvin or suggest I would not be happy to have him.

My top want is OL Nick Petit-Frere (grab a spot in line haha) and then Boykin. I would love a rush end, but I don't think ND is positioned well for an impact player at that spot right now. I would rather be laying ground for 2019 and 2020 at that spot. My ideal close would be Petit-Frere, Boykin, and WR Lawrence Keys. That would put us at 24 commits, which I think is a good number this class.

I am not really familiar with most of UW's guys outside of Gordon and Sirmon. I know the QB names, but had no need to follow them due to ND being in on Jurkovec for so long.

Yeah, I've read a bit more about USCs intentions with Hufanga this morning and I think you're right, all arrows pointing safety which I think would probably remove Irvin off their radar.

Prior to Gordon's decision, Tom Loy was mentioning something about Gordon/Irvin being a package deal since they are good friends. Apparently Gordon called Irvin the night before he committed to UW and told him where he was going and then suddenly Irvin put the breaks on his announcement.

One of the Husky 247 guys said that he thinks Washington leads for Irvin now but that could change at any moment so I'm not sure he has any clue what he's thinking.

Anyways, yeah--I don't think ND/UW had a bunch of common commits they were chasing. I know the one that was considered a heavy lean to ND for a while was Sam Taimani from Utah. He signed with UW a few weeks ago. The other was Brandon Kaho who had offers from basically everybody and was considered a lock to Bama. They got him to sign on his OV a few weeks back too.

I'm late, but watching MSU look dominate last night was a great time. This team is insanely young too, so I'm super excited to see how next year goes with pretty much everyone coming back with a year of experience under them.

Let's see. A QB who has sucked all year continues to suck in a big bowl game. Surprise.

Darnold is a redshirt sophomore that threw for over 4000 yards behind one of the worst offensive lines in Power 5 football.

He definitely hasn't sucked all year. The expectations he was given to start the season were just unrealistic.

MSU dominated that game from the start but in Wazzu's defense (gross) they were without their QB1 (injured) and WR1 AND WR2 (both left the program after the last game of the year).

Not to mention their defensive coordinator was spending time in Columbus interviewing (and likely getting) the 10th coaching spot on tOSU rather than prepping for this game and it showed.

How much of that is piss poor OL coaching then and just general failure to develop these kids? Their offensive line was chock full of 4* recruits and one 5*. Players that 80% of P5 teams only dream about getting. I wish UW could get a line full of top line recruits one of these days.

edit: lmao. This made me curious to look at UWs offensive line starters for tomorrows game.

    LT: 4*
    LG: 2*
    C: 2*
    RG: 3*
    RT: 4*

I think it's more a mixture of coaching, inexperience, and injuries.

It doesn't have that much to do with talent, but just because a kid is highly rated coming into college doesn't mean he's ready to play just yet.

They might be really good in a few years or they may never develop, but I'd never want to see two true freshmen starting on my offensive line against a front like Ohio State's.

that Memphis TD just now was so strange. the TE ran untouched for a 20+ yard TD and he looked like the slowest guy on the field.
