Welp, I'm glad the Cubs are gonna get their game in tonight. Fun watch so far.

 

Yanks' bottom half taking care of the runs. Good to see them piece together some decent hitting for once.

 

I've never paid attention until now but Freddie seems to be a very slow runner.

 

Zimmerman has two HRs tonight. Maybe he's heating up and everyone can stop walking Harper.

 

Happy to hear that. Felt bad for that dude.

 

Braves fall to 1-16 at home. Time to start wondering about breaking records here...

 

Cubs are on pace to lose less than 30 games.

 

Also fuck the Pirates. The let Happ go without even trying to sign him and he's 5-0 in Toronto.

 

Not to mention Neil Walker's success in New York...

 

Oh I've bitched about that plenty already. Haha. They will never spend actual money. They are more than content with a winning record and a few playoff games. That's all they care about. It gets the fans coming to the games and they don't have to actually spend money.

 

Are y'all active anywhere on any team-specific (or sports in general) sites? The Cubs subreddit has been increasingly insufferable and I'm wondering if there are any good communities out there.

Dang I didn't know it was that bad. I saw where they picked up some 4A guy from the Nats yesterday. Don't know if that's the answer or not.

How did the farm system get so depleted? No crazy trades happened, right?

 

They traded their 2 top pitching guys for Simmons so nah nothing big at all :P

 

Street trade, Simmons trade, Greinke trade, Escobar trade and the allocation of money to Pujols, Hamilton, and Wilson are the major farm selloffs for Arte Moreno and Dipoto. It's great having a guy like Kole Calhoun come up through the system, but he is the only success outside of Trout in the Dipoto/Butler era.

Moreno saw dollar signs and big free agents became the game. Players that had great careers elsewhere became shrouded in mediocrity here. This year is really exposing the damage that's been done. Coming in last in the league in the prospects department and seeing it fall apart with injuries sucks, but it needed to happen. Now the Angels are stuck with a stupid name and no Trumbo. I miss Trumbo.

 

But but on the bright side Angels are close to a trade for Jhoulys Chacin!

Yeah I got banned by the (pretty terrible) guy who runs the site after disagreeing with him.

 

Personally I think the Angels signing CJ Wilson was a great move. It gave the Rangers a supplemental draft pick which they used to get Joey Gallo.
