Don’t have time for a long write up but @Colin Your Enthusiasm gave me Halos - Living like Kings in confines spaces.

I really enjoyed this album from 2011, very dynamic alternative rock and definitely in my wheel house. I actually even went out and listened to their newest album as well bc I liked it so much. The vocals remind me of a really interesting mix of like more popular alt rock and some of the higher reaching singers we enjoy like Chris Carrabba. I definitely will be spinning this again, thanks Colin!

So this week I listened to What's the Story Morning Glory by Oasis

I wasn't super familiar with anything by Oasis, outside of Wonderwall. Right away, though, it's obvious this is a 90's alternative/rock record, as the record starts strong with huge, blaring guitars and catchy melodies in the vocals. The first half of the record follows the same sort of trend; the energy for most of the record rarely lets up, but it never feels tiresome or overdone. The record slows down a little bit for a few songs in the middle/end (mostly Cast No Shadow and She's Electric) before finishing with two of my favorites on the record, Morning Glory and Champagne Supernova. These two songs are the ones that stuck out most to me on my first listen, and have gotten stuck in my head a bunch this last week. Overall, this is a really great, huge sounding rock record that I definitely see myself coming back to in the future. A whole bunch of records that have these huge sounding mixes tend to be harder and tedious to get through (to me, at least) because it's just a huge wall of sound that never stops. Oasis avoids that here, though, by managing to give songs enough breathing room to give listeners a chance to relax a bit, if you will.

Anyways, it was a great record!

Oasis is the best idec. And I know everyone hates the Gallagher bros but where else is it socially acceptable to peel potatoes at a concert

yoooo. you should listen to Alanis Morrissette's album Jagged Little Pill. like, people "know" songs of hers, but one does themselves a disservice not taking in that album as one big piece. 12 for 12.

it's a 90s singer-songwriter album, so like, know that going in. but it's so honest and funny and biting lyrically, and every single chord fits so flawlessly. to look forward 20 years and 33 million records later and see how it still lingers in so many musicians now, idk. it's such a fucking good album.

It's sad that everything she did after that never quite reached the height of that album.
