This week I was suggested What What What's "Shopping Is A Feeling". It was recommended by @littlejohn.

What What What - Shopping Is A Feeling - I had never heard of this band before and am really surprised by that. With a sound reminiscent of The Money Pit (who's debut ruled my listening in 2015 - and frankly still gets spun weekly) and Gatsby's American Dream, I was all in on this release. This album is short but sweet clocking in at under 30 minutes. Groovy riffs and hi-hat heavy drumming really keep this record moving and I can see that heavy influence of The Money Pit. WWW's bassist puts on quite show as well. There are plenty of spots where the guitar drops out and let's the bass take the spotlight. Nothing overly technical but a great use of counter-melodies appear regularly as the bass strays away from the happy or funky guitar parts. My only disappointment with this album was how the vocals were done. There is autotuned effects on practically every song. Their vocalist uses a quick spoken type of delivery which fits well with the songs but the pitch shifting effects add more novelty than melody. It's not overly distracting but I feel like it was a missed opportunity to really add a cool dynamic to the music that their singer obviously can't do... he is pretty monotonous and doesn't seem to be ever "pushing" for that note (like you'd hear from TMP / GAD). On a few occasions the autotune effect is used really tastefully with a lot of saturation (see Unexpectedly Average) and more focus on melody. I probably listened to this album somewhere around a dozen times. It's been a great late addition to my 2017 listening and would probably sneak into my EOTY list when I revise it next week. ++ (Loved it)

Thanks again to @littlejohn - I hope you enjoyed Night Verses.

I am actually really surprised I haven't heard it yet. I am excited to finally get to it.

Edit: I am getting so hyped already. After doing some research, I just learned that Ian Thornley of Big Wreck(Top 10 bands of all time) fame helped on this record. Just...wow!
