Half of those aren't technically canon though.

It worked for me... especially because it’s clear that she feels way stronger for him then he does for her. Which makes sense... her sister and her had looked up to heroes like him.

Rose and Paige, Her now dead sister (now truly a hero herself), viewed Finn as one of the most recent heroes. I think Rose is very emotional during this movie and she experiences an intense experience with Finn.

In my experience, people who share an intense experience in a short amount of time can quickly develop feelings for each other. I think that’s exactly what happened here. Rose is already emotional (she is literally introduced crying) and jumping into her experience with Finn, it makes total sense she develops strong feelings for him.

I would argue a similar situation is why Finn cared about Rey so quickly as well. It remains to be seen how Rey feels about Finn, but it does seem she very much missed him during her short time away.

I get that it seems rushed, it is, but I get situations like that so it works for me. I understand if it doesn’t work for people though.

Sad that the thread has devolved into talking shit on Lucas. He gave you all this universe and now you can't help but take shots at him.

He was on the island for 5-6 years max. He was still out with Ben Solo in Bloodline, which is set 6 years before TFA.

It's in that picture book, someone posted a picture earlier of it, but I couldn't tell you the page.

I respect Lucas for a lot of things, but being a good director is not one of them.

Great post, I'm glad I read this before my second viewing.

    I havent delved into that...

But I think it’s important to be critical about what you love. Unfortunately, the prequels have an insane amount of things worthy of being critical about and Lucas is either to blame or had control over pretty much all of it.

Lucas had the perfect in to have a creative position with the ST and not have to direct. Wonder why that didnt happen? Was he not interested or was it not on the table?

I am sure if he had wanted to, he could have. But he was done. The bashing from the prequels has him not want to do another movie.

Are you saying they used the dark side to become Force Ghosts? Yoda and Obi-Wan DID NOT use any part of the dark side to become Force Ghosts. They were taught the ability by Qui-Gon Jinn also, though he never got to the ghost part, he was more of a disembodied voice. Force Ghosts can only be accomplished by the light side of the Force; compassion is what creates them.

I’m wondering where Kylo Ren’s name came from? Anyone see anything official? I know Kylo is speculated to be a combo of Skywalker and Solo, but I was wondering about the Ren part. Japanese perhaps? Just curious.

How do we think Disney is recieving and interpreting the backlash?

And do we think it will have repercussions for the production of future SW films?

Honestly, JJ better include the Knights of Ren in the next movie, otherwise that is nothing more than a throwaway line and the Forceback visions make no sense.

George Lucas rarely gets the right amount of credit. Most people either give him way too much shit or way too much credit.

Also that Mark Hamill quote is silly but ultimately not a big deal, he’s partially talking about what helped him as an actor put forth the performance Rian and this film needed, as someone with an especially unique relationship to the character of Luke Skywalker.

Not sure if the Knights of Ren have titles like "something Ren" or if the Knights of Ren are named after Kylo Ren. I kind of assumed the former. The Japanese influence in naming, among other things, continues, Kenobi, Yoda, etc.

It’s true. Jedi don’t give up and run and hide out in some remote planet.

That’s why Yoda was front and center, fighting Vader and Palpatine in the Original Trilogy. He wasn’t hidden in some hut somewhere. He was out there, fighting with the rebels. Side by side.

I thought Luke was way more understandable in second viewing, more than I did in the first. I forget the exact line but where he says something like "believing only the jedi have the light is vanity" or something along those lines.

What makes Luke one of the greatest force users? His pacifism. We saw it in Return of the Jedi, and we very much see it here. I feel like the heart of Luke is intact, but how would you feel if you had a moment of weakness, human weakness, for fear of someone you love losing themselves to the evil that took his father? Because Luke was a legend, his failure, the greatest teacher, btw, understandably shattered his world view.

yoda literally says in RoTS "into exile i must go". why is it so hard for people to be OK with luke wanting nothing to do with this anymore? we're just finding things to be picky about because for 2 years we hyped up our expectations of what we wanted Luke to be after all this time.

Also, if Luke shut himself off from the force in exile, the whole "how could he let Han die/this happen" argument is mute. He was in total exile, those connections were severed.
