but yeah I don't see any shot that Jim or Pam return for this. I could see Dwight recurring for a few episodes.

if they could do this like Scrubs tried to do the med school season, I might be on board. all new characters with a few of the older ones recurring every few episodes.

i really liked what they tried to do with scrubs, but it just never took off.

Have it take place 30 years into the future and Cece Halpert is the Regional Manager of Dunder Mifflin Scranton, wackiness ensues.

This is such a bad idea, and made extra bad when you consider that pretty much the original target audience for the show surely universally knows this is a bad idea.

I miss the late 00s/early 2010s NBC comedy block that I'm open to the idea of a spiritual Office reboot (keep the title the same for all I care) with 100% new characters at a new company with no connection to Dunder Mifflin. My guess is it would be bad, especially as I imagine they wouldn't have Michael Schur involved, but it's a concept that will always work in theory. A return to Dunder Mifflin with a handful of returning cast members is an almost unspeakable bummer to me.

    damn this thread negative af

I'm going to remain optimistic that it'll be fun, would be happy to spend more time with pretty much any of the characters. Hope they atleast keep some of the OG writing staff

There’s no chance Carell, Krasinski, Fischer, Novak, Kaling, or Helms go near this. Maybe Wilson if they paid him a shit ton of money.

It’ll just be Meredith, Oscar, Kevin, Stanley, etc. with some new cast members. I guess there is the outside chance it succeeds and is funny, but without Greg Daniels or Michael Schur steering the ship, I feel like the odds are really low.

Yeah I mean honestly I think it would be cool to try out a new office in a different area of the country and make it like, in-universe, the first documentary was so successful that they decided to turn it into a series profiling office workers in different industries. But going the Scrubs: Med School route is just a bad, bad idea all around.

So sick of all the reboots. No need for this to come back.

hopefully them trying to now reboot this just means they've finally stopped putting any effort into reviving Friends.

Even this is unlikely - Stanley retired at the end of the run, Kevin had been fired...if they bring anyone back it'll be minimal. I don't see the point.

An idea like this works for something like "Will & Grace" because it's the core cast hanging out and it's been away for so long that it can be updated to fit the times

"The Office" limped and crawled through its final couple of seasons and clearly had run of things to say and situations to get into.

Not sure if I want it to come back, but I'll watch it no matter. I'm optimistic about it for sure. But since there is literally, ZERO info out about this, no one can say either way. I hope for the best.

I can think of a good bit of younger folks that talk about this show and love it who did not watch it while it was airing. I'm sure the Netflix customer viewing statistics show some serious "traffic".

I'm hoping the hugely negative reaction to this online scares them away from doing this.

POTENTIALLY just setting the show in a different branch of Dunder-Mifflin could work, with old cast members making cameos like a few times a season, but I'd much prefer they just leave it alone

Yeah she's unbearable. There's plenty of redeeming parts the last two seasons but Andy, Erin and Nelly made it a real chore for me sometimes lol

In my eyes, “unbearable” is a stretch. I didn’t mind her at all and found some genuine lol moments with her. I remember the “chumbo” bit made me spit out my drink once, and the next time I watched it I would have spit if I was drinking.

Nelly wasn't good but I loved Erin, though I love Ellie Kemper in anything, and Andy was one of my favorites for most of the show until they ruined him towards the end
