I'd love this, there's been an idea of a mixtape where we all tackle the same song before or at least not barring more than one person covering the same song on a compilation - and this is the nearest we've got to it (I think?) after @thesoftskeleton and I covered it last month - so would love to hear a new take on it on one of these comps.

Yeah! I know that idea has been thrown around, I’ve always thought it was a cool idea. Tbh, I do think it’d be nice if multiple covers of the same song were allowed, but I get why it’s a rule. I didn’t know you covered it already, I’m gonna have to give it a listen.

 

I'm also considering doing something from Japanese Breakfast, just gotta choose one.

 

If I had it my way, none of us would call out what songs we were doing, and then we'd just see what happens. I'd love to hear multiple versions of the same song. I think that'd be really interesting. But I know that people like to announce what songs they're doing. It would definitely be convenient for me because then I wouldn't have to update the list constantly, which I sure wouldn't mind, haha.

 

Maybe for the one after this we try that? Silent submissions. That could stunt interactivity, collaborations and discussions a little though but might be worth an experiment? Just have to people call out if they're involved and how recording is going etc.

Yeah, for sure. I tried doing that for a mixtape compilation before and people called them out anyway haha, which isn't a big deal. It doesn't hurt anything, of course, but one day I'd totally love to do a silent submission compilation, or a comp where we all cover the same song. Especially the latter.

 

People could still announce if they wanted to!

 

Probably going to try and finish more than one cover, but this one I decided about two months ago that I wanted to do.
