I have two vegetarians and two vegans in my very close friendship group (there's like 10 of us who speak every day and stuff). Plus my girlfriend is veggie. So I think it's good that I have people who can give me advice.

Went to a fantastic vegan restuarant for my work's christmas meal last night. It was so good, and kinda encouraged me that it's possible to do veganism really really well.

It helped that they had some incredible whiskeys on the bar.

Definitely stick with it. Go at your own pace though. Don't get worked up if you cheat. It's a long process, but a worthwhile one.

I think it's also helpful if you do "cheat" to take time to remember what your motivations were for doing it in the first place. Speaking from my own experience, I knew I didn't want to participate in the violent industry which kept me motivated to keep finding replacements and cutting out animal products. The thought of the suffering that animals were going through everyday stuck in the back of my mind, and still does, reminded me that any "discomfort" I was going through trying to figure out this new diet was nothing compared to what they were going through. Just my 2 cents.

So I did Christmas, and it was easy. Now at like 4/5 months and it feel good. I still get tempted sometimes but the knowledge of how far I have come is enough reason not to.

  6. not sure if this was asked earlier in this thread, but do people have recs for vegan egg substitutes? I've never found a good one. I made a vegetarian bacon, egg, and (vegan) cheese sandwich yesterday, and it was very good, but I used real eggs.

    Hey. Supporter

Have you tried Follow Your Heart’s vegan egg?

  8. Yeah I feel like the only real replacement I've seen for something like scrambled eggs is gonna be the Follow Your Heart (which I've never tried) or just doing scrambled tofu.

Egg replacements for baking is a different story.

  9. I have not, I rarely go to Whole Foods or anything like that so I haven't come across it, it looks like it's available on Amazon though so maybe I'll give it a shot! Thanks. Also I'm not a huge fan of Daiya cheese, but I've heard Violife is better? Anyone tried it?

Could be wrong but I thought Violife was only in the UK? If it’s in the US, I need to try it. I’ve heard nothing but good things.

went to disneyland today. was able to get vegan pizza, a red velvet cupcake, and a giant pretzle with mustard. ive been vegan most my life, and it's never been hard, but shit is becoming strangely easy these days.

That’s amazing! The reality is that vegans are becoming slightly more prominent and the more there are, the more we are demanding things to eat. Veganism has been growing exponentially due to accessibility of knowledge of resources and I think the demand of veganism has been a lot easier in some cases.

My only opinion on Follow Your Heart vegan egg is that it smells like a bag of farts.

(but I’ve found it pretty helpful in baking tho)

black salt. i have had friends add that shit into their tofu scrambles or whatever because it makes it more 'eggy' read...fartty.

i haven't tried cooking with that stuff yet, but as like a straight up egg, its kind of gross.

hell yeah, her Tofu that Tastes Good Stir Fry recipe was a game changer for me in how to prepare tofu (the rest of the stir fry was fine too)
