The people comparing TLJ with the prequels are such a small, small minority. Hell it could pull an Empire and grow to be more loved as time goes on and people grow to be ok with the subversions.

 

well Im glad it came out ok and the cinematography was sweet

 

Empire didn’t get received well initially either.

This was received critically very well though. The general audience seem to be the ones not getting it.


Side note: anyone check out the story stuff for the new Battlefront 2 DLC? I don’t okay, but I watched a play through of the initial campaign, and I literally just started watching one of the new DLC. I really like Iden, I hope they do more with her.

 

From what I saw, I think its just people saying they enjoyed this less than prequels.

I would stop reading reviews or trolls if it upset me, personally.

 

I think a lot of people’s feelings on movies are shaped by the people they discuss it with. That’s true for the masses online (Facebook, Twitter, Reddit) that are reinforcing their hatred and people in here that are attempting to smooth out criticisms.

 

I would be all about a star wars movie about millennials breaking free from the boomers tho.

I really like Iden (and Shriv! would love to see him in a movie). Janina Gavankar seems to absolutely love the role too so here's hoping we see more of her

 

Fandom is such a weird thing, I can't think of any long running series that I keep track of and consume so utterly...

Maybe the Terminator series? But I don't have the heart to watch anything past 3.

I don’t understand the plot holes people are talking about on rotten tomatoes. I feel like I saw a different film than most people

 

Yeah I definitely think this is true because literally everyone bashing the movie keeps parroting the same five talking points like they’re Fox News pushing the Trump agenda.

“Plot Hole” is the most misunderstood/misused term in entertainment. 2/3 of the people that throw it around have no idea what they’re talking about.

 

How did Snoke not know Kylo was going to chop?

 

Because he was so arrogantly sure of his abilities and because Kylo disguised his thoughts by making Snoke think he was thinking about turning on his own saber and killing Rey.

I mean Im not gonna dwell on it but I wasnt a fan of that idea, esp as Snoke says hes reading his mind and is shown to be powerful af. Though I did like the fact that he was chopped and it was surprising and subverted the audiences expectations.

 

I can’t believe people didn’t get this. It’s clearly said and shown. Haha

Disguising thoughts is such a silly thing, but it fits the context of the SWU, but it's still a little funny to hear in a more critical context.

 

I get it bc Im not 5 but Im not a 100% fan of the execution of the idea.
