Quite enjoy Collider's stuff. Just finished this review and there's some really good discussion.

Yea, I looked that up when I read the article.

It means it wasn’t said in English. I don’t know if I count that. If we don’t know when it was said, how can I say it is really there? It’s such a weird choice, which does fit this movie, but I don’t like it.

On a similar note... what do we think Chewie said to Rey when she got in the escape pod? When she tells him to tell Finn something if he sees him first, but she pauses. Then Chewie suggests something and she says to go with that. Wonder what it was.

 

Let’s think about how cool it is that we got to see basically the original Jedi temple, force trees, and all sorts of ancient force lores/books.

With rey having the books I expect her to continue her training with them and to be very strong in the next movie. If Disney releases the books as content for us to read I would buy every single one, as long as it contained information about the force and past Jedi/sith/darkside users.

My favorite movie review podcast is “Now Playing”. They’ll be releasing one on Tuesday for TLJ. I’ve been listening to their reviews of episodes 1-7 this week. The main guy is a huge SW fan, has like 100k worth of memorabilia and toys. He’s very passionate, to say the least...

 

If George Lucas made this movie I wouldn’t think he was mostly a fraud who lucked into creating something that the people around him turned into a classic.

George Lucas couldn’t shoot a scene that looks anything like the best here to save his life.

 

Lucas is a good world builder and not a lot else.

 

I can’t wait for all these people bashing TLJ to get a load of Rian Johnson’s trilogy. Free of the baggage of the main series he’s going to turn the weirdness and originality up to 11. Going to be fun to see those reactions while I’m just sitting there loving the fact that an artist like Johnson gets the budget to do whatever he wants now.

 

How is Brick? I remember really enjoying Looper.

 

Yea, those are gonna be unreal.

 

Brick is excellent. Never seen The Brothers Bloom but I’ve heard it’s his least-good.

 

Watching people throw tantrums is very funny tho.

I loved the cinematgraphy of ANH. Idk if or how much Lucas is responsible. Specifically Tattoine obviously.

 

It’s widely believed that ANH was saved in editing from being a complete mess. So even if he got the shots himself, he didn’t know how to assemble them.

 

It kind of upsets me a little that so many people don't like it then I remember how much I love it and that it's their loss.

 

Keep these coming, I wonder if these people realize how moronic they sound in these tweets.

 

Yea I don’t get it, remember a week ago when I was really sure this would be one of the most highly celebrated Star Wars movies of all time. Now I’m worried it’s going to be remembered as something that rivals the prequels
