NPR is the only major last that had Tweet's album on it last year so I respect them more than the rest by default

 

Look forward to their lists every year.

 

P4k embracing diversity over the last half decade or so has been a great thing and (especially) when juxtaposed with the outrage over their list I've seen around the internet is obviously a very important thing. That said, I feel like they're reacting to popular culture now moreso than pushing it somewhere. Is this a bad thing? I don't know. Personally, I'd enjoy a site that feels more like pitchfork of 2007 but with a greater focus on hip hop and pop. It seems like in reality they've expanded genre focus (good) at the same time as transitioning from tastemakers to mere commentators (less good).

the best site for small emo/indie folk stuff

they've premiered stuff off like every topshelf/tiny engines/father daughter release this year

 

Only haven't heard the Hand Habits and Lushloss albums from that list. I love to see Vagabon getting to much love.

 

Random small sites having the best lists is cool. Passion Of The Weiss usually has by far the best list for rap fans.

A lot of albums on there I just don't really like. For what I like, the year was light in the rap world. some gems, but a lot of mid-tier "ok" range albums

 

that list isn’t great because Uzi is way too low, no Brockhampton, no Chief Keef...
