Bought a ticket to see it at Lloyd Center in Portland on Friday morning since its 10 minutes from my airbnb. Might also see it Saturday with some friends.

 

Seeing this in a few minutes. Will post completely vague, spoiler-free thoughts.

Yep! Definitely a product of its time, but I enjoyed it.

 

Interesting. It seems pretty timeless and inventive to me. But you may be one of the few people on earth your age who can assess such a thing without having years of fandom attached to it.

That all being said, watch Empire fast. Its the most engaging.

 

man I would love to see the whole series for the first time again

 

a girl I work with was watching them for the first time with her 2 sons over the summer. She had never been really into SW growing up and the first SW movie her or her kids saw was Rogue 1. So it was fun to sort of go through that with her haha, she somehow went her entire life not knowing darth vader is lukes father or that luke and leia are brother and sister. So it was pretty wild.

 

I also just really want a bad ass lightsaber battle in this one. The one we got in TFA was a good nod to the untrained mannerisms of Luke when he first fought with it, but now that Rey has trained I hope for a duel up to par with ROTJ/TPM.

 

I can't even remember a time that I didn't know Vader was Luke's father. I feel like I was born with that pop culture knowledge, and really wish I had a memory associated with hearing that revelation for the first time.

Hoping that The Last Jedi will have that kind of moment or experience for me, but my hopes are far too lofty. I'm just a cynical 28 year old who thinks he has seen it all.

 

I'm fully expecting to be surprised. Something absurd will happen, like Kylo will die in the first 30 minutes or he and Rey will team up to kill Snoke and rule the galaxy lol

I remember people thinking Chewie died from the TFA trailers..

 

Oh what I wouldn’t give for a Luke + Rey vs. Kylo + Knights Of Ren lightsaber battle royale with a sick new John williams song

 

So jealous but eagerly awaiting your thoughts!

 

Yeah! What the f is the deal with all the Knights of Ren stuff?!

We were never told. They were just in a quick flashback with no explanation or hints that those characters otherwise exist at all!

 

Remember when we all thought the dudes from The Raid were the Knights of Ren and they turned out to be some random pirates? That’s my biggest TFA disappointment haha.

 

Just called my theater and they're doing the same thing that they did for TFA release. Which means I'm bringing a camping chair, my DS, my iPod, and a book or two. Will be waiting in line for like 9 hours lol

 

I'm so glad my local theater does reserved seating.

The hints at an expanded universe/characters and people we don't know yet (or their backgrounds) was my favorite part of TFA. Excited to see what we learn, and don't learn, in TLJ.
