The 90% figure is blown out of proportion and I'm not sure why homegrown is in quotations. Can you elaborate?

If it was a joke, then that's cool. I just can't tell over the internet. I'm just trying to prevent the spreading of misinformation.

Sorry, yes...it was very much tongue in cheek. I really just wanted to throw in a "Stanford Messi" joke. I don't actually know or know how to find out how many MLS players are above the age of 30 and spent most of their "glory years" playing in Europe.

I also used "home grown" in quotes because it's kind of a wonky term that the MLS uses.

    Oh, carry on then.

It usually takes quite a bit to truly piss me off, but the one thing that really grinds my gears and makes me go from 0 to 100 really fast is Americans who praise European soccer but have no interest in growing the game domestically or actively go out of their way to shit on the domestic league(s).

I'm right there with you. I follow the Barry Hearn philosophy when it comes to building MLS. The focus should be on making a better soccer situation here. Stop spending millions of dollars on retired Premier League strikers.

I think what RSL and Atlanta are doing for their youth development programs will pay some pretty solid dividends once they go online.

  5. Blackburn finish 15th with a goal differential of 0. What a weird season. I'm fully content at this point realizing I won't be watching them in the Premiership for a while.

As for the promotion battle, let's go Sheffield Wednesday!

Got no problem with older star players who take MLS seriously and not as some pre retirement tour. All love to Henry, Villa, Kaka, and the rest.

So what's your opinion on Howard then?

We'll see when he comes in July. Last guy I'd expect to not give a shit would be Howard.

How do you feel about players who've spent most of their MLS tenure injured, ala Frank Lampard

So Bayern have signed Renato Sanches for €80m. 35 up front and 45 in bonuses. Fuck sake.

SAKE. Dortmund have just announced Hummels is joining them too.

With everything else that's gone on with our club recently I'm ok with our postion in the table. This season was about stability after our clear out last summer. My main concern though is all the stuff that's gone on off the field, it's pretty obvious that Lambert was garenteed something (prob investment this summer) when he came in which Venky's have now gone back on which is why he's leaving. Honestly the only good scenario for next season I can see is if venky's sell up over the summer.

That's a shitload of money for someone with just 23 games in the top division of Portugal.

    A grave situation
‘Is this the way to remember a legend? 50 years after his finest hour, Sir Alf Ramsey’s final resting place is a humble grey stone in the corner of an unassuming cemetery,’ reads the headline on Sam Tonkin’s piece on MailOnline.
Mediawatch knows meaningless outrage when we see it, and this is spectacular.

Ramsey’s final resting place is the business of his family, not MailOnline. If there is no reference to England’s World Cup win on his gravestone, it’s probably because his family preferred to remember him as a husband and father. Anyone wishing to pay their respects to Ramsey’s sporting achievements can visit his statue outside Portman Road.

“It’s almost as though Sir Alf’s family wanted it this way, most likely acting upon his own wishes,” Ipswich fan Simon Young is quoted as saying in the article. We couldn’t say it better ourselves.

  15. Oh yeah, I agree. Finishing 15th is great when you consider that at one point they were hovering above the relegation zone. It's clear that the club overall has lacked poor leadership both in the boardroom and on the touch line. They haven't had anyone strong enough to stand up and take charge. Hopefully if Venky's sell, we finally see that.

I met Sir Alf once. It was in the local Solar supermarket. Such an unassuming man just doing his weekly shop with his wife, probably felt uneasy with everyone staring and wondering if it was him.

I was about 8 at the time, had no idea who he was.

I'm so bloody nervous about our play off game on Friday vs Brighton.

I don't think Wednesday are ready for the premier league yet, but with Brightons suspensions we have a big chance to come away from the home tie with a lead. Should we win the first leg I'd definitely fancy us to get the required 0-0 in the second leg.

Friday will be unbearable up until kick off.

Thank you west ham fans for welcoming the united bus with such hospitality. I now get to watch it at home instead of on my phone while driving home.
