I thought he posted last week. Well if he doesn’t get back to you, you can partner with @Wall Of Arms if their partner doesn’t either

So my thoughts on @JRGComedy's recommendation Madd Oso - Sleep Cycles.

A well put together album, very upbeat and will lift your spirits. Though not an album that I think works in every setting, it has the vibes of music you'd want to hear live to truly appreciate it. The vocalist is okay, some of his delivery is very cookie cutter-ish and flat, and the lyrics didn't do much for me. Thought they're categorized as Pop, they have a lot of funk elements that I appreciated more than anything else on the album overall.

I hope you liked Watch Out!

Fashionably late, but @manoverboard365 was my partner last round.

I've been wanting to broaden my horizons in the folk genre and find something new and refreshing, so he recommended Phoebe Bridgers - Stanger in the Alps and Ryan Adams - Prisoner

Phoebe Bridgers - Stanger in the Alps

I've been sitting on listening to this album since it came out. I noticed the love for it all over this website and on others. Going into this listen I lowered my expectations so I wouldn't be disappointed. I absolutely understand the love for this album and songwriter, but I found myself lost during the 2nd half. For me, I think it was just a little too slow, but thats not something to knock the album for. I think I need to get in the right mood and environment to listen to this (I was drinking coffee rummaging through some things while this was playing throughout my place). I will have to come back to this one.

    Ryan Adams - Prisoner
I've never really listened to Ryan Adams, but I caught a tv performance of his once and then forgot to check out his stuff afterwards. When the first song came on, I knew this was for me because it reminded me of Butch Walker's latest album. I listened to this entire album parked on the 101 with the windows down and the sun setting over the ocean. It really enhanced my experience with this album. He pulled off that 80's retro folk rock sound with this. I need to check out his other stuff!

Second half of Stranger is slightly weaker than the first, mostly bc the first has such a strong opening run with Smoke Signals thru Funeral. I would def recommend giving it more focused plays tho bc Would You Rather and You Missed My Heart are absolute knockouts and up there with the opening trio.

This session I listened to RVIVR and Tim Barry. It's kinda funny because I think @bree1981 thought that Tim Barry would be a safer pick for me because his style is definitely up my alley, but I actually preferred RVIVR. Barry's Rivanna Junction was interesting, but I mostly found the lyrics lacking, which can be a problem if you're setting them to folk music that's kind of slowed and gentle. I just thought songs like "Avoiding Catatonic Surrender" and "Cardinal in Red Bed" mostly trafficked in cliche while the storytelling, like in "Dog Bumped," has been done before and better.

I really liked the RVIVR self-titled album, just when I thought some of the songs sounded a little similar to each other there was a second vocalist and it really helped give the tracks definition. I think my favorite might have been "Life & Death" but I listened to the album a lot in the background so I wasn't always paying attention to the titles and stuff. I definitely liked the female vocalist's voice better, but I liked songs led by both. I'll definitely be checking out some of their later albums.

Foo Fighters - Concrete and Gold

I’ve only ever been a very casual Foo Fighters listener. I know and enjoy their singles, but beyond that I’ve never really had a desire to delve into their discography. With that said, I have no idea what the general consensus is on this album, but I found it to be very enjoyable. The biggest thing that stood out to me is just how god damn good it sounds. The production here is top notch, as it should be, and can even elevate songs from just good to great. I can’t say I loved every moment of this, but I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought it would and I appreciated when it went in directions that I wouldn’t think Foo Fighters would go in (the Beatles-esque Sunday Rain, coming to mind). Even when I wasn’t actively enjoying it, it was never bad and just worked as some solid background rock tunes. Not sure if it was enough to convince to check out their other work, but I’m glad I listened to this. No need to RIYL as their reputation precedes them.

Standout tracks: T-Shirt, Run, Sunday Rain

Monty are I - Break From the Silence

One of the first things that stood out to me was that the production literally hurt my ears. Within ten seconds, I can’t exactly pick out what it is, I think it’s the ride, but it cuts through the mix with a very painful “ting” that was very distracting and persisted throughout the album. Overall, I don’t have too much to say as I did not enjoy this, unfortunately. Kaleidoscope is probably the only song that worked for me.

RIYL; Fall Out Boy, PM Today

Glad you enjoyed the Foo Fighters record! Paul McCartney is actually drumming on Sunday Rain, which is probably a reason why it sounds so Beatles-esque.
