I can say they won't be able to now, recruits don't think he'll be there after the game. FSU must be offering way more. No idea who MC will get, they'll give him the mula to get someone good though. I would say lupoi but there's talk he'll talk the DC job in bama.who knows.

ive begun my research for bowl mania and what not and yeah...what the fuck. Why the hell is FAU playing in the Boca bowl against shitty Akron? I'm going to assume the Boca bowl lobbied super hard to have their home team play for ticket sales, because otherwise this is such a shitty bowl for everyone involved.

The best CUSA team gets rewarded with a home game against a super duper mediocre Akron team?

I mean, hello, there was a totally open spot in the Independence Bowl vs Florida State waiting for them. FAU vs Florida State would've been a realllly intriguing matchup. And if boca bowl wanted a florida team, then just take FIU.

And like, the best aspect of these bowls, is that the players get the reward and fun/experience of playing in a fun new city and playing a somewhat interesting opponent. What about a trip to the Bahamas vs Ohio for the bahamas bowl?

Sounds like CUSA needs to get their shit together when it comes to bowl tie-ins and what not.

I dont feel bad for Akron because they were 6-6, so whatever, but im sure to them its like 'uh thanks?"

  14. Kiffin was on Lebatard recently and they asked him about playing his bowl game at home and Kiffin said they had the opportunity to play elsewhere but chose to stay home.

Hmm.. that's interesting. I read a few things and the AD seemed pretty "whatcha gona do" about the whole thing, and the overall tone seemed 'meh', although i never saw anything about Kiffin complaining too much.

I wonder if Kiffin saw a bigger advantage to just chill out this bowl season and get a head start on recruiting instead.

But ill take the football fan take...and the anti-Kiffin take here... and say well, that's a pretty shitty decision. You could've given your team a true test and better exposure against Florida State..or a reward in the Bahamas bowl..but opted to take the easy route.

I mean shit they're 22 point favorites haha

“We look at it as the best bowl in the conference,” Kiffin said. “Our team is very excited. Our players are very excited. The chance to stay home is very special, basically to have another home game. From that vantage, it’s really neat. The players obviously at first were like, ‘Well, we don’t get to go anywhere.’ But then they really looked at it, and realized,‘Hey, we’re honored because we’re going to the best bowl that there is for our conference.’ ”

“I think people don’t think about it. Miami used to want to do what? Go to the Orange Bowl. USC, UCLA, you wanted to do what? Go to the Rose Bowl. It can be really special when it’s the premier bowl like this.”

lmao fuck off. Having another home game "its neat". Is it? It's the best bowl in the conference. Based on what? Is Lane calling the Boca Raton bowl premier? Yeah Lane, usually, the orange and rose bowl also have something called a big time humongous opponent waiting for them...and big time fan bases travel across the country for those.

It's late. I hate lane Kiffin.

It is the best bowl for Conference USA.

They could go to Shreveport, Louisiana to play in the Walk On's Independence Bowl or to New Orleans to play some trash opponent in an empty Superdome.

I'd take the option to stay in Boca Raton too. They get a quality mid-major opponent (MAC runner up), there are no travel costs, and home field advantage.

Sorry you don't like the guy but he's not wrong about anything here. It's the best case scenario for an upstart mid-major.

It probably has more to do with the fact that if you can play in a bowl game and not lose hundreds of thousands of dollars then you take that opportunity. Bowl games are expensive and travel to one would cost the school money and they’d come out of that game with a loss financially.

He's doing it to protect his record and his reputation...any other way you guys try and spin it is laughable

    They're a 22pt favorite. That's insane.

So come out and say that. Don't try and spin it that this is somehow the best option competitively or that this is some sort of prized goal... another home game vs a team you're favored by 3 tds.

we've seen the shadow of the axe before Supporter

Also I doubt hardly any FAU fans are going to pay money to travel to a bowl game.

If FAU travels to Shreveport to play Florida State, they lose money. If they go to New Orleans to play in the Carrier Bowl against Troy, they lose money.

If they stay in Boca Raton, they make money.

Why is this so hard to understand?

It's literally his job to promote his team and the games that they play to EARN money.

How do you not understand this concept? No one is spinning anything. You just don't like Lane Kiffin and you're crying about it.
