I'm not understanding the outrage either. What happened that I missed?

So, the volunteers still can't get anyone? Doesn't look like they're hiring anyone today, I could be wrong but so much for that report

So you're telling me I can go back through this thread and find you saying the same stuff about the half a dozen other schools this happened to? Or that you weren't in support of Taggart/Fleck using schools as jumping off points to come to your school?

Also, I don't know why you're pretending he used Oregon like he wouldn't have just stayed at USF if he legitimately thought Jimbo Fisher would run away crying.

No, just make the buyout universal.

You mean the same price for every school? Because that won’t work.

I probably haven't posted about it in as much detail when it's happened to schools that aren't my alma mater I'll grant you that but I certainly have always found this sort of thing extremely unprofessional and dishonest.

And lets not act like a coach coming from relative obscurity, putting in 4 solid years at a mid-major program ala Fleck and Taggart, then making the jump to a p5 school is the same thing as taking that p5 job which you refer to as a "dream job" in your intro presser, touting your commitment to the program all season then bolting in less than one year and presumably gutting the team on your way out.

There's a reason we weren't mad when Chip left, he gave us 4 great years, helped build the program into a contender, then went on to achieve his goal of coaching in the NFL.

I'm not going to fault Taggart for taking his "dream job" when he had the chance, but I absolutely reserve the right to be pissed about what it's going to do to our team.

EDIT: Well, I guess I am faulting him for it, but like I understand why he did it i guess is my point

All I want is a longer period between the end of the season and the signing period, maybe a time where a coach is allowed to leave by. It would be fair for everyone to have a chance to bring back some of their key recruits rather than losing like 10 players because the coach bolts at the last second. I don't see why that's impossible.

Gonna have like 10 decommits in the next 10 days, might have to give out some scholarships to completely unranked players. Why wouldn't you be mad? It's stupid to debate that you shouldn't feel ill will against someone who left a program that was finally being rebuilt in complete shambles because they knew they were done like two weeks ago. How can someone not be mad about that? It's not about leaving for a dream job at his favorite school, it's how he handled it.

Also there's more and more shitty stuff by the second lol I didn't even know this one

Nah I mean the buyout goes both ways. Wanna fire the coach? Wanna leave? Same thing.

Probably not a good idea. I'm just trying to rock the boat.

But this is what people do in business all the time. You use the job you're currently at to get up the ladder to a better paying job. If you're lucky, that's within the same company. Most times that's not the case.

And there is no good time for a coach to leave. Do it after signing day and then you're just stuck with the incoming class you didn't pick and the kids that didn't pick you. You leave during the season and you're abandoning the program. You leave before the bowl game and you're the bad guy for leaving then. When is Taggart supposed to leave? There is no good time. No breakup is good.
