Guys, if Taggart leave Oregon the only logical conclusion is Chip goes back to Oregon. Duh.

Also in Heisman news, I was surprised to see Barkley is not a finalist.

FSU low-balled him compared to contracts given to other coaches. Yeah, I'd be upset too.

Yeah, getting paid $4.1 million to ditch your job sure must be tough.

Getting below market value in a contact negotiation. Yeah, that is tough.

For real though, what has he actually done to earn more than Frost? Frost helped build and maintain Oregon as we know it right now and then he did something no one else in history has every done by leading UCF to an undefeated season just two years after they were winless. Then there is Dan Mullen, who has coached two undefeated teams, has won a championship, and has groomed one of the greatest players ever. All on top of the fact that Frost and Mullen actually have winning records, while Taggart does not.

Man, I wish this shit applied to people who actually need money lol.

Only the fucking millionaires get to perform below market value, demand more, and fucking get it.

He took a team that won two games in two years and won 16 games in three years (WKU) and laid the foundation for Bobby Petrino to rebuild his credibility and allow Jeff Brohm to succeed and then jump to a P5 school. He then took a South Florida team that was 5-7 and 3-9 the two years before he got there and then he turned them into an 11-win, conference championship team in the AAC.

This doesn't even touch the fact that the way the market works in sports is that the next contract usually out-paces the one prior to it. If it were the other way around, Frost would be using Taggart's contract as leverage. It's the reason why salaries in sports escalate; people look at the ones who've signed previously and then they use that as the bench mark.

Would I pay Taggart more than Frost? I dunno. Taggart also has a D2 national championship as an assistant coach, helped mold two running backs into Doak Walker Award winners while at Stanford, turned around two programs from shit into conference title contenders -- but ended up leaving a little too early before he could get the recognition for it -- and now has moved his name into position to be at one of the 15 elite top tier college jobs. What more do you want him to do? Oh, he's also a black man in a sport where predominantly white administrators, listening to predominantly white boosters, hire predominantly white coaches.

Also, you know I like Scott Frost, I think I've made that clear. While the team he took over was winless the year prior, the program also was 9-4, 12-1 and 10-4 the three years prior to that. Also, they'd won 8+ games in 5 of 7 years before Frost got there. Again, I like Frost, but this is how sports contracts work.

I'm aware this is how it works, how do you not realize that's my problem?

At this rate, let him go. Obviously he doesn't want to coach the Ducks. Move on.

Man, I really thought this would be the year the Sooners didn't start an abuser at a skill position. There's always next year.

Sorry. Was getting the impression that you thought Taggart was wrong for asking for that much and that schools would be wrong for giving him that much. If the problem is with the system, then that's fine, though it doesn't bother me much (I've probably become desensitized to it).

The year is 2019, Florida State head coach Willie Taggart tweets about how fired up he is to coach his Seminoles in the Fiesta Bowl.
He takes the Tampa Bay Buccaneers job 3 days later

(I reserve the right to retract this post)

Mac has been trying to bolt for almost any other job, maybe they've had enough. He's won one season out of like 5.

Would be weird if he went to Tennessee because he had that assistant coach domestic violence cover up thing happen
