Sufjan Stevens - Carrie & Lowell (March 31, 2015) Album

So glad this finally clicked with me. Excellent album.

 

This only gets better and better

 

If he plays this whole album at Coachella like he did on tour last year I'm going to be pretty bummed and skip his set.

 

This is the set (other than emperor X) I've thought about more any any other live set I've seen since Kanye

 

The show was amazing, but selfishly I want more of a mix from adz and illinoise

 

I don't listen to this too much because it's such an emotionally exhausting record, but fuck if it wasn't one of the best things released last year

 

Yeah this is a record that I don't listen to much for whatever reason, I guess it's just not within my regular listening habits, but it's also such an incredible record whenever I put it on.

 

when it's raining and I have nothing to do, I put this on the record player and crawl under the covers. the best album for that

 

Read part of Stereogum's Top 10 Sufjan Songs and turned the first track of Carrie & Lowell on again. Big mistake... I'm pretty much crying at work now.

This album is definitely at the top of my list for hard-hitting records. I discovered it shortly before my brother died and it broke me. I was afraid to listen to it for a while after because of what it's written about and because I knew what it did to me the first time I heard it. When I finally listened to it again I cried through the whole thing. I don't listen to it often, but it's one I will hold close to me forever.

 

this was my favorite album of 2015 - incredible

it was so cool getting him to go back to a more restrained and intimate sound after AoA's maximalism, and being amazing at both sounds

I'm really curious about where he will go next, he's def one of the most special artists of our times, no doubt

 

We are getting a live album!!!

That's awesome, the live versions of the C+L songs from that tour were astonishing

 

I am SO bummed I missed that tour. I got into the record like, two months too late.

 

Saw him on that tour cycle at Eaux Claires. It was perfect.
