Those tweets are followed for stuff like this on every stance, by the way. I disagree with you. I think that this should be taken in consideration on the way that we handle things. I think it's our responsibility, way more important than patting ourselves on the back about how harsher than most our morals are. I think that understanding that this can be used for whataboutism by people that support Lacey and attack and discredit the victims elsewhere is important, and you seem more worried with being right.

I respect that you think differently than me, but if you can't understand why this discussion is important, then it's pointless. Mock my opinion away, since even when I give you proof that people will and are already using this as a form to excuse Lacey's actions doesn't make you even flinch. Thinking is good. Compromise is good. That's what that article is about, by the way.

 

people can't use "whataboutism" (i put it in quotes because i'm taking your own definition for it) if we don't give them any ammo to use. they can't say "well why didn't you condemn this artist!" because we did. let's do that.

Sure, let's do that. But taking in consideration what is said on here - which seems that the writer put a lot of thought - might be better than "I have a harsher moral code but I will go to mental gymnastics to defend Lacey truthers" without even thinking for a minute.

A majority on a place like this is meaningless. I'd really like to hear from the actual Lacey's victims about this. How they feel about people shrugging it off trolls using what other band members did as an excuse. People here lumping everything together, etc. It'd be interesting.

I'm not getting roped into this endless back-and-forth. You don't understand what you're talking about, clearly, because nobody on here is using what other band members did for anything other than saying the problems with Jesse are problems that go back decades and this systemic, horrific abuse of young fans by older band members needs to stop. You somehow take this sentiment as defending what Jesse has done, which is absurd. The fact that people can say "well what about David Bowie, you still like him?" or "well what about Elvis Presley, you still like him?" is the problem. "Whataboutism" is a problem. They're all predators and they should all not be supported. That way, nobody can say "what about" anymore, which would mean those who would use whataboutism to defend Jesse have no ammo.
