Whoever is in charge of their social media pages I think should be ashamed. Their Facebook page is fucking disgusting.

 

Honest question: what would a "good" statement from the band sound like? It's obviously not going to please the majority, or any, of their fans. Should it be directed toward the victims? Jesse?

"All -- Vin, Brian, and Garrett here. We're done. We had no idea the extent and we're absolutely floored. I'm sorry this happened under our watch."

In terms of the facebook page? My understanding is that he only runs the social media for the label, not the band itself.

 

You say that, but you know it isn't true. Whatever statement they put out will be absolutely destroyed by almost all involved.

 

lyrics look bad, but were probably written by an 18 year old based on when it was released.

 

Look, I don't know what you want the answer to be but right now they need something.

 

1) Acknowledge you know what the accusations are.
2) Ask all your fans to respect and not harass the victims at all and that they have your support.
3) Explain whatever your role in this was, did you know/not know/cover up/not cover up what was happening.
4) Explain the future of the band: over, not over.
5) Apologize.
6) Say thanks for 18 years, the band's over.

Something along those lines would be a start.

 

It is very depressing but I need to create a tag to catalog all the accusations.

I’m confused, who’s Hunter Moore?

I had no idea Hunter Moore went to prison.

Fucking awesome.

 

I interviewed Hunter Moore a few times when I worked on the technology vertical at Huffington Post. Trying to transcribe his coked out ramblings in real-time was always an adventure. Learned to record and transcribe after the fact for him.

 

Honestly even if all they said was, "We are still in shock and have no idea what the future of the band will be. We will keep you all updated. Please respect the privacy of our families and please give the women who have come forward that same respect. That is the most important thing you can do as our fan during this process," it would be infinitely better than UTTER SILENCE. The "they've always been private" argument has no bearing on something like this.

 

Also I'm at a brewery for a beer release right now and there's a guy in a BN shirt. I almost NEVER see them in the wild where I live. I have no idea if I should say something.

 

At this point unless they seem like a truly ignorant individual I wouldn't even bother because they're probably wearing it to be "that guy".

Really? I saw them in 2007 with MCS and him being so tatted up, I swore he was in his 20s.

That does make it somewhat more reasonable. Hell I was 19 with a 17 year old g/f I met in college at that show. I was the old man in all of this!

 

I'd probably say something, you can just say something like "hey did you hear about jesse" or something and gauge their reaction to that. told my wife the same thing yesterday because she saw somebody wearing one in her class.

I don't think every single fan of brand new knows about this. fans of brand new didn't even know they had released an album for awhile in some cases.

Yeah I am absolutely not interested in interacting with someone like that. I feel torn between wanting to make sure someone isn't supporting them without knowing and walking into a harmful conversation.
