Dude, whenever somebody mentions a DTR band, I just wonder what they had to do to get signed. I just remember the rumors from long ago about the owners.

 

I just did some web searches and found that Richard is apparently managing Nothing But Thieves. They were mentioned earlier in this thread.

 

What are you referring to? This is news to me haha

 

Um, the story goes before you can actually sign to DTR, you had to give Richard Reines a back massage or something...

I can personally speak to this as I knew Richard in the early 00's when DTR was in their heyday and I had to walk on his back multiple times. Yes, the back walking is true but the towel thing is not. He was always fully dressed. Looking back on it, I was very naive as a teenager to think that this was an "ok" thing to do.

Edit: And yes, he preferred you wear white socks while doing it because he thought black socks were gross and "hid dirt".

But whilst i'm in London this weekend i'm going to try catch the Mac Demarco or QOTSA shows. And failing that, there's a Purple Rain tribute I might check out. I might as well still go and enjoy myself!

 

mac has his own problematic issues, heh. wish the post wasn't taken down after being up for years but mac went with a friend of his to some underaged kid's house and the friend stripped down and started masturbating, while mac just sat there and filmed. he brought it up in a reddit AMA asking if mac remembered and mac was just like "yup", that's it.

i think so, they used to play in each other's bands but don't anymore because of professional reasons and i don't hear about them together much anymore but i haven't seen things saying they aren't.

you probably know who this is but i don't think most of this thread would and i didn't want to start pointing fingers here right now.

 

The guy is a creep. No matter how "mature for your age" a girl seems, going after an underage girl is wrong on so many different levels. Minors cannot consent.

 

that's about how i feel, which is why i don't listen to his music.
