why should I regret a tattoo I got years ago for one of my favorite albums/bands? how would me shelling out hundreds of dollars on a coverup/removal help the victims at all?

 

Oof. I'm someone who loves tattoos, but takes a VERY long time to commit to getting them. I'm 29 and only have two right now, and each one took years for me to consider beforehand. I was planning on getting a Science Fiction tattoo next. I never thought I'd say this but thank fucking god I'm so indecisive.

 

Considering you're one of the people who has been hinting at knowing more about this situation, I can't see why you would need a TL;DR for it in the first place.

I would feel so bad Kevin if his label shut down right after a release again (like what happened when he was on that major label at the release of Put Your Ghost to Rest). So yeah, I really hope they keep the label up until Kevin is moving on to a new record cycle.

 

I suspect it'll be over like Collect died after Martin Shkreli.

I assume not. That's why I say, keep the label alive only until he's starting a new cycle. Keep support for the record he just put out up, then shut down when he moves to a new label or goes independent again.

 

Because every time you look at it, it reminds you of what a horrible person that artist is? I mean, I like Picasso as an artist, but it would bum me out if I had to be reminded of his bullshit every time I looked at a piece of my body. It's not your fault, but I can understand getting buyers remorse after all of this.

 

He said he is putting new music on hold for awhile anyway

He also said he wouldn't mind if "I Was Alive Back Then" was the last song he ever released

The way I read that was he put new music on the back burner while helping Brand New tour. I think it's safe to say that's not going to be the case anymore so maybe priorities will change.

 

I don't know, Jesse's behavior doesn't change how much Deja and TDAG mean to me, or meant to me when I got the tattoo. It obviously affects how I view him now, and how I feel about listening to them in the future, but I'm not going to feel guilty for the attachment I had before this all came out. I'm not going to judge anyone who does regret their tattoo, but Brad's post just came off unnecessarily condescending.

While it came across that way, that's not what I meant and I regret it but I'll leave it up so I can get roasted for it.

 

Unfortunately for me, songs like Jesus Christ and MVMVE are probably forever changed in my mind as something else entirely. BN was a top 5 band for me, and sadly this has changed my feelings on their songs and their meanings. Having such a personal relationship with their music has backfired in a way. I will always like the music, but it might be a while before I can sit back and listen to it without knowing the awfulness behind the lyrics.

Songs like Limousine or Guernica might be salvageable.

 

Without wrongly accusing a bunch of people in consensual, of age one night incidents, though seedy but not illegal, You can pretty much sweep through any of the bands members that names got rattled off during the ISANYONEUP website era. All the names mentioned in the last few days were ones from that nasty old site

 

Thanks for all of this, man. Couldn't agree more with the part about believing women. It's possible to have toxic relationships that aren't criminal--we've probably all had one. Hopefully that's all this was, but it sounds like we'll never know the entire story.

 

I remember harmonizing songs off of Deja Entendu with a friend I have since had a brutal falling out with (my fault tbh) as one of my favourite memories period and I'll be damned if I'm going to let a jerk like Jesse Lacey ruin my happiness, even if the songs now just make me hurt.

 

This is a lot bigger than Collect and Shkreli too

 

It's just the best example of another label closing because of a scandal.

 

I put a Deja Entendu sticker on my friend's casket in 2008.

 

Has anyone actually heard anything about The Starting Line? Someone mentioned their name earlier in this thread.
