Vin was the one who wrote SL/T. I'm pretty sure that, unless he states otherwise, the song is about self harm.

As for the statement, I don't know how I feel about it yet. I understand why Jesse couldn't directly mention Nicole, but it feels sour because of it. I do think that this is one of the best ways of handling a situation like this and I appreciate that he has been looking for help. I hope he can stay far away from music and focus on being a good husband/father, especially now that he knows at first hand of what the world can bring to women, especially impressionable kids.

I don't know if I can ever return to their music, I genuinely don't. I can't say whether I'm putting it down for a day, a week, a month, a year, or forever. I just need to process all this and fully comprehend. The songs still do mean a lot to me, and I put the band down for an entire year out of a journey to find new music, and they came back full force in Science Fiction. If I can put them down for good, I'll be happy, but I don't want to demonize myself for having attachments to the bands' work. I can't control how I feel. One thing for sure though is that I wish Jesse removes himself from his platform and that I am not going to give them a single penny ever again.

I hope Nicole is doing okay.

I dont know how grown ups, like full grown adults liken fucking with underage folks... I was with a girlfriend when I became of age and she was in a timeframe where we had a window of it being uncomfortable being intimate.... we met it was alright, ended it was all good, but that window alone made me question if we were right for one another (2 years apart). We were together 3 years, and the window was small, but even in that I was so conflicted even in knowing I was only 18 and everyone knew me and my heart/intentions... I couldnt imagine having to lie to everyone including self for such a thing, nor would I ever... just knowing even a thought of that though... fuck.
You're a rockstar, I'm sure there is plenty of age people interested in being with you.

 

i think those songs will always mean something to me but i want to make sure that jesse means nothing.

 

One thing I can say is this.

I'm a 24 year old music teacher and my students are of all ages from as young as 3 and as old as in their 40's.

I taught a 15 year old today and my heart ached.

At that age you think you're an adult and know everything, but you aren't. You're still so young and impressionable.

That cemented many of my feelings about this situation.

 

Remember how Jesse always said if he wasn't in a band, he'd be a school teacher? Now we know why.

I am only in field experience for teaching but currently I am in a middle school and it just makes it so much harder to deal with this. Like you said, it is so obvious how naive they are despite what they'd have you believe. It kills me to see all the band names scrawled on their binders now (not that I didn't do the same).

It really takes a sick human to do that to a child.

 

I remember so well when I was 15 there was this girl I really liked but she was dating a guy at the time....the guy was 22. At the time I remember having such low self esteem thinking "this girl is too cool for me, she dates older guys. I'm so out of her league." It wasn't until a few years later that I was like holy shit that was a sexual predator.

Just wanted to echo what a few others above me have said - when you're that age even though you're a kid you try so hard to believe and make others believe that you are an adult and can make adult choices. Its what makes teenagers such easy prey for these creeps.

 

Maybe longer than that, but I talked to the guy who's drumming on the new album about a month ago and he was pretty excited.

There will be a bigger fall out coming to this music scene in the next few weeks. Taking Back Sunday, New Found Glory, All Time Low, The Starting Line, Boys Like Girls, A Day to Remember, Junior Varsity, Yellowcard, Of Mice and Men, 30 Seconds to Mars, All American Rejects, so many bands from Victory, Hopeless, and the Warped Tour crowd. The list is long. Drugs and sex with underage girls defined those years.

 

I don't know if this is out of line, but I wrote about this. It's been a really rough week for a lot of people, and I don't want to mean to be selfish. Just trying to process.
