Man, this is all so gross. Incredibly frustrating the prevalence of coercive, shitty people in the entertainment industry.

Guess that ending in 2018 will be happening sooner than later.

 

I've spent thousands of dollars to fly across the world for a few days to see Brand New and now I'm feeling pretttyy silly

In the music world people hang onto that like the sports world brings up "Duke Lacrosse" at every moment.

 

not surprised at all, anyone who has been a part of/tangential to the LI music scene at ALL for the last 15 years shouldn't find it that surprising, this dude is megalomaniac and rumors like this have floated around him for a very long time (from people who have worked with him and been fans), very angry about any dismissive reactions

 

At the very least you can enjoy London without having to worry about going to the show (if you choose not to go). There’s definitely ways to make the most of the trip

 

I’m devastated by this news, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t anticipating something coming out with this current (and very needed) wave of outing predators/abusers, given the plethora of rumors. My heart goes out to the victims, especially the ones who were minors in their respective situations. I still don’t know completely how I feel, other than disappointed and disgusted, and I echo the struggles of other folks in here who have considered Brand New their favorite band, and who have felt like this band has saved their lives in some ways. This fucking sucks.

Also anyone bringing up the Conor Oberst situation trying to defend Jesse is a moron.

I need to disconnect and try to enjoy my life again. Been finding that increasingly harder and harder to do lately.

Echoing what other people have said in here. I know you all don't really know me well and I don't post a ton, but I consider this forum to be an awesome place with great people. Anyone who wants to talk about any of this or needs someone to vent to feel free to dm me.

probably the last thing before i go to bed: i truly don't know how anyone can be legitimately surprised. not thinking it would happen, maybe, but actually surprised and shocked that this did happen? at this point when i saw the news today i was like "well, yeah, there's another one". i mean, like, even the "joke" for a bit has been "well we'll see how chorus reacts if jesse gets allegations." disappointment and anger make sense, but if anyone is legitimately surprised that this news ended up coming out, well, you're much more idealistic than i am

 

Dude this bands music meant a lot to people. Nobody is sitting around waiting for their heroes to become villains.

 

even if they're your heroes, i still can't imagine this news being "shocking". like yeah, we all hoped it wasn't a thing but when things came out i still can't imagine people being totally thrown for a loop.

it's like an athlete turning out to have CTE. it's almost expected at this point

It’s just super unfortunate that she (they) had to go through what they did. It just sucks. It sucks when it felt like it was from someone you trusted all growing up.
