Is there clear cut evidence yet or just an accusation?

There's been no statement issued yet? Did this break this morning?

Is this one accuser or a string of abuses and history?

 

I just noticed the story is on his Wikipedia page too. It really has spread quickly.

 

I get it, but they aren't pressing charges so "evidence" isn't really something they owe anyone. the only thing they stand to gain by coming forward is a lot of harassment on the internet, which should support their accusation

edit: to answer your other questions: no statement, yes this morning, I guess one accuser officially, but rumblings of it not being the only victim

 

Now that I think about it, publicly belittling abuse stories where victims will undoubtedly see it is worse. At least 4chan posters KNOW their behavior is socially unacceptable. Jesus

I think that's really shitty and sets a dangerous precedent.

I think if he did these things he's a piece of trash and needs to be prosecuted.

I think it's important to defend victims to the fullest extent. Assuming otherwise just because I'm asking if she has come forward with anything isn't fair.

 

I don’t NEED evidence nor am I entitled to it. As of right now I have no reason to disbelieve it.

All the information is in these threads. How hard is it to read before opening your mouth and immediately contributing in a negative way?

 

Also in a lot of these instances (not this specifically) but what evidence do you want? How do you expect a woman to get evidence outside of their own recollection?

Like with Louis CK, would people prefer these women say “hold on, stop and let me take a picture really quick or record our conversation so strangers on the internet believe me”

 

I really don't think asking if she's come forward with anything among other questions is contributing in a negative way. I think calling someone an asshole for asking is negative.

yeah, or like (and again not in this situation, but applying this mindset at large to the criminal justice system), say you wanted a confession or admission of guilt out of someone who did that, you'd need to actually ask them about it, which would mean there would need to be an investigation, which would mean - get this - that enough people believed it happened because you said it did to support it being investigated. this is why this shit is so rampant and underreported.

 

@Jason Tate what do you think as of right now your/chorus’ stance on this situation will be? Meaning this band has been such a staple for AP/Chorus. Now knowing what we know do we continue to support BN in the news thread? I honestly don’t know if I’ll ever feel comfortable listening to them again.

 

This. Its rattled a lot of us, but that woman has been through hell and has the balls to come forward.

Imagine one of the most trumatic instances in your life happens at an impressionable age. Something that literaly warps your mind and makes you question your life value. Years later you FINALLY get the strength to confess what you went through and people ask you for fucking proof of it.

This is why women are afraid to come out and announce/take down their attackers. And many people, not just women. The victim should be first. The accused is the one who should have evidence to prove his innocence. Thats how a court works, if you want to bring in evidencial procedural.

 

I posted something on FB yesterday about Louis CK and how men needed to do a better job of holding each other accountable, and someone said "yeah well WOMEN DO IT TOO." And like plenty of others have already said, things like that really makes it harder for these victims to come out and speak about their experiences.

I mean seriously, if your very first instinct is "oh, where's the evidence?" "yeah, well that happened years ago" or literally ANYTHING other than trying to sympathize with the victim, then you need to re-consider what is important to you.

 

And reconsider your fucking basic morals and humanity

My first thoughts were how awful all of it was and I did feel awful for the victim. I believe her.

I didn't say that I didn't believe her without evidence. I didn't say women do it too. I didn't blame her. I didn't do anything of that nature.

I think about this a lot because I've exclusively only seen bad ones, but what would you consider a good apology in one of these situations? (or a link to a widely considered "good" apology)
