I've been fighting a terrible cold for the past few days and this is causing me to get out of bed and go for a drive so I can listen to "A Black Mile To The Surface" in the hopes it might help me get through this.

 

A few weeks ago I was wondering Gaslight Anthem/Brian Fallon would edge Brand New out for my top spot, and its looking more and more like thats gonna be the case.

Haven’t really had much to add to this conversation, but like a lot of you I’ve been really shocked. Pretty much the only thing that’s made me not totally sink into despair today is reading this site and seeing how pretty much all the regular users here are responding with compassion and concern for the victim.

This new wave of assault allegations is incredibly disturbing, but these things coming to light is long overdue. As a lot of you have said, far too many men in positions of power and admiration have abused that power for far too many years... it’s time our society truly has a reckoning with this. I’ve definitely had some problematic views of my own regarding these issues in the past, and I’m really grateful that this community has been one of THE main sources of knowledge that has hopefully made me more understanding of these issues now. I stand by and believe the victims completely.

Sorry for how long-winded this was, just wanted to get thoughts out.

 

Finally caught up on everything. This is so scary. So many thoughts to process.

A lot of talk has been made about their music and whether some of us can still stomach listening to it. It may be too soon to make a definite statement on the matter but I think it would be wrong for me to toss out their music. Yes, the music is written and sung by a sexual predator. But that shouldn't be what comes to mind when I hear these songs. Those first 3 albums were the soundtrack to my youth. YFW and Deja will always remind me of hanging out at the mall after school, and covering those songs with friends at local shows on the weekends. TDAG will always remind me of college, and how hearing the album being played from a dorm room created new friendships.

Will I continue to buy their merchandise and concert tickets? Most likely not. But their music has already been cemented in my past, and it would be really hard to erase that.

It's only been a few hours and I'm lucky I have this forum. Even friends have reached out to me and said they're so sorry because they know how much of an affinity I had for Lacey.

We're compassionate and kind (most of us, an overwhelming majority). I admire that about this website.

I'm at a loss. I know it's corny, but I really believe I would be dead if it wasn't for this band. Now it feels like my life came at the expense of someone else's well-being and I didn't agree to that. That's not a trade I would have made. I just feel gross and sad.

 

i feel terrible for the victim and hope she's been able to get help and improve her life after this situation / instance took place. probably definitely got harder as the band blew up and became as well loved as they did (i hope maybe she took some odd, small solace in the fact that the band wasn't plastered on every magazine cover / have songs playing in movies and TV shows like some big bands get to the point of doing).

this is the first time i'm faced with having an artist i enjoy / like accused of such a horrible act / crime. not sure yet how i feel about or how i can decipher it and what has all been released. i don't think i'll have an issue with listening to their music / seeing their artwork on my body as their music is their music, i don't think what has been revealed will impact my enjoyment of their work, but i can see how others would have to draw the line and disconnect from the band / music / artist / person.

 

I am getting off Chorus for the night to spend time with my wife and hold my newborn daughter.

This is all still really heavy. I might come back tomorrow. I might wait a few days. This was my favorite band for literally half my life.

Never in my life have I thought “hmm wonder what Cody Payne feels about this” especially after his absolutely fucked up comments on AP about Suzie from the Narrative. Fuck him and don’t even bring him up.

 

Zack Zarillo has been awfully quiet too. He’s been all over the Spacy, Weinstein, and Louis CK stuff but hasn’t tweeted a word in 10 hours.

but TDS has their own other issues

 

Cody is out of the band, but AJ never has discussed the problematic things he did in regards to them taking nude pictures of themselves on a females phone.
