He plays in a band still afaik, and people that lied to me about it still tour manage bands and work for labels and the booking agent that covered for him and made gross comments about it are still relatively well respected and I see them chumming it up with people on Twitter all the time.

You and me both. Very eye opening. What was more eye opening was how many dudes got close to me, were super stoked on The Cause, and then became annoyed and distant when I kept being loud and didn’t stop at just Harry and FPS. I got the “people are starting to talk about you maybe chill” text a few times and it broke my goddamn heart.

Also, Long Island will never spit out its boys- it’s a cesspool. More so in hardcore, which is why Harry chose to set up there, I’m sure.

 

He's still completely engrained in the scene he held power in. Nothing changed. JJR basically got more scene famous, too

Not that I want any pot stirred but, what other artists from that scene? I ask because if it isn't obvious, being from NY and my family from Long Island, I'm a fan of many from there. But I certainly don't know the social connections and what not that concerns stuff like rape, sexual abuse. I wanna know if I'm listening to the wrong people's music.

 

I don't have an answer, but I hope someone answers you. This site is a safe place. I don't know who or what it is, but I believe you.

 

Catching these guys on the 17th but it seems tainted now... sucks. Hope the victim is supported in any way possible.

I think it's a good question, and one that we constantly see ourselves asking because of all the gross stuff that is popping up, especially as of late. The thing is, I don't really think there's one answer for everyone. You have to do some self-evaluation and find out where your own line is drawn. Like @kaylasananjou said here, it's important to not reward the abuser and the people who hid what they did or still support what they did. I think everyone needs to draw their own conclusions on what their own actions should be. But first and foremost, before you evaluate anything, think of the victim and put yourself in their position. Think about that for a while. Then decide where to go from there.

If anyone else has any input, please feel free. Because I see this question asked a lot.

Edit: I missed the "with a shitty twist" part so not sure if my post still applies, but putting the victim first will always apply.

The latter. I've heard rumors. But hero worship makes people do stupid things.

 

Wow. I feel sick. I'm really tired of hearing about grown white men taking advantage of their platform and power, and abusing underage girls. I hope she finds some peace, it took so much courage sharing this. I'm so angry. I was sexually harassed a few years ago, very similar circumstances to this woman here, and didn't talk about it until this year. Constantly told myself it wasn't that bad, it wasn't actual abuse, i deserved it, I was too sensitive. Fuck people who make you feel like your abuse is less than that, and keep on living knowing they hurt someone like this.

I wish I wasn't surprised... Jesse was my idol, his lyrics have helped me through the worst times of my life, and it's going to be tough calling him out and separating myself from the band. But my feelings towards their music are nothing compared to living with the trauma associated with sexual assault. I hate that this keeps happening, but I'm so proud of all the women who share their experiences and I will always stand with them
