I was so hyped to play Pyre once I got my PS4 and ended up not liking it. The sport gameplay is pretty good but the pacing of the game is really bad in my opinion. I'm only like three hours in and apparently it's pretty long and I can't take it anymore.

I normally don't make top 10 GOTY lists (and still don't) or name a GOTY (I have no idea what mine would've been for like the past 5-10 years) but I have to call NieR: Automata my GOTY since it's so far ahead of everything else I've played this year

Haven't seen it mentioned yet but Hollow Knight is going to be pretty high up on my list.

hm, not quite sure i understand what you mean by nerd. GH was more along the punk/90s aesthetic than explicitly nerdy, besides maybe the x files tapes and discussion of playing Street Fighter (if those even count). how would you describe nerdy?

 

Not Gone Home, the other games. Gone Home wasn't nerdy and instead of taking over that part of it too, developers just took the "gameplay" and applied it to "nerdy" stuff like space stations and so on.

 

I seriously think the only games from this year I’ve played are splatoon 2 and destiny 2.

Personally, I think OW is one of the few games that do lootboxes correctly and I don't see it as gambling. The only thing I don't like is their event-based lootboxes but then again, as with the regular ones, you don't have to buy them.

When loot boxes affect game play, that's an issue. Like in Hearthstone, you open packs for cards, that affects gameplay. But in Overwatch, you're getting skins, sprays, emotes, etc.

 

hmmm i finished horizon zero dawn and persona 5. i'm still early in on AC Origins and Destiny 2 (yep I got it the other day lol).
