I have Xbox game pass and a whole backlog of games just from GWG/owned and I still don’t know what to play.

    I suck.

I’m really surprised Nintendo isn’t doing any Black Friday deal for the Switch, they’ve done a lot of great deals for their products in the past.

So far, I’m not seeing much that demands me to go and wait in line somewhere. MAYBE Wolfenstein II for $25 at BB

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

Gamestop had a trade in at one point where I traded in my old PS4 to upgrade to the Pro, so I only paid 150 out of pocket, it was great

I felt all good after the first 10 tracks in the campaign and now all of a sudden the difficulty went up a bunch for the next 10.

Yeah I noticed that, but the restart is so quick so doing a course over and over again is so easy that you'll get better at them quickly

It was so fucking good man. Evertone I hear people say "OMG so many games are coming out go 2017" I want to remind them that like half the genres we had in 04 are fucking gone from the AAA space and Freekstyle is one of the examples in my head.

i may get better but we won't ever get well Prestigious

i really wanted to like it, and it started out strong. my complaints basically fall under three umbrellas:

    - narrative. the storytelling was clunky; compare it to Gone Home, where you have a great eye for environmental storytelling - it's not just notes and audio logs, but also visual design of the house, wide variety of objects that convey emotions and a sense of place/time. in Layers of Fear, we have some items of your wife's, and just endless alcohol bottles. everything else is notes (some of which even say 'why do we always talk in notes') and hammy voice acting. it's very stilted. and what we do get, also isn't very good - it's a pretty generic, impersonal story. LOF's refusal to commit to a personable house - an intentional and understandable design choice - hugely impacted characterization, and was not worth the tradeoff. had they been slower and more deliberate about pacing the deconstruction of the house, it would have been much more powerful and disorienting, but because we never have time to feel at home in it, it's neither upsetting to us as a place of safety losing that security, or informative to us as a storytelling framework.

    - scares. i loooooooove non-euclidean horror - the distortion of spatial logic with the enormous abyss near the end, the way the house crumpled under its own weight like paint on a canvas - that kind of horror has its roots in Lovecraft and works great with the decaying mind as a platform. BUT, those moments were, like, pretty few and far between. instead, what we had was a lot of: scare chords, the room throws some shit up in the air, a painting flies off the wall, again, and again, and again. the scares are extremely linear, repetitive, and based on predictable jumps rather than really developing a convincing, surprising, and tense atmosphere.

    - on a similar note, mechanics/meat. there's just not enough of it here for a game of this length. i'm very much in favor of shrinking games to their leanest and meanest, and this game would have been stronger if it clocked in at 1 hour, cause by that point, all of its ideas had been basically wholly used up. instead, it's 2-4x that length, and it shows, cause we have the puzzles where the game just straight up gives you the code, a terribly paced checker search, and a billion rooms where you have to try every locked door and then finally turn around and now that door is open.

Gone Home was "cool" and then the industry - including the Gone Home developers - took the gameplay concept and put it in an endless amount of played out nerd frameworks and thereby completely missed the point. Firewatch is the exception.

Just check for any compatibility issues regarding what 4k tv you're buying and which console you're going for. I love my 4K, and I love my PS4 Pro, but I still continue to deal with the black screen issue when using HDR and it's terribly annoying sometimes. I have tried finding different solutions and checked with Sony help but no luck. Certain TV's work best with the new consoles is my main point.

I agree. I think they WAY too "indie" and in the end it totally destroyed the mood of the game.
Do you still have a warranty for the PS4 Pro where you purchased it? Maybe try switching it out for a new one?

I do not sadly. But it's not really the PS4 pro's hardware that is the issue.
