Bob is the one who realized that the tunnels/vines were avoiding bodies of water because that’s how he was able to see that it was a map.

I didn't think they hurt them? I thought he turned them on the floor above so that the demidogs would hear it and go run upstairs and check it out

Oh, I agree. I think it's a big problem in many shows/movies, like in The Defenders. But I feel like Eleven kind of overshadowed everyone and took away from the "teamwork" feel of it, idk. I loved the season regardless, it just felt a little anticlimactic, leaving me feeling like "Oh, that's it?". It's hard to really put my finger down on exactly what feels missing to me.

When Dustin had the first one as a pet he thought it was amphibious but noted that it felt pain when in contact with water

Oh wow I totally missed that. I knew he established that it didn't need water, but don't remember him saying it hurt Dart, I guess I wasn't listening close enough.

    Keep on the sunny side.

Man for whatever reason, I’m a sucker for teen school dance scenes that tug at the heart strings. I loved the one in Freaks and Geeks with Styx playing. I loved the one in the Wonder Years with Unchained Melody playing. This one topped those for me, so good.

Finished it. Loved it. Thought it was fully on par with the first season.

The big discovery for me was Noah Schnapp as Will. Everybody already knows what a force of nature Millie Bobby Brown is, but I'm not sure many people saw Schnapp coming because he was so sidelined in season 1. That kid can fucking act.

I felt bad for Noah last year when the show blew up and everyone was latching onto these kids and he was just a plot device. Glad he’s a main now, he deserves it

The Jurassic Park vibes were so heavy in episode 8.

I saw something about the original plan for Bob being that he would be killed by evil Will, which would have been way cooler and darker than what happened imo. But I guess that would have made Will carry even more emotional trauma into next season and he deserves a goddamn break for once, so I digress

I thought it was fun how they went the Tremors route, by having little versions of the monster from the first one. That's what it reminded me of.

Yeah, I see what you're saying. Note that I loved it, but I thought it would be cool if her sister and her gang showed up. Sister uses her powers to have the demidogs see vision of fire or something to deter them from getting to El. Gang just has guns and shoots them. Just go all out and have everyone involved so El can do her thing. Would also be cool if 8 and 11 were on the elevator with Hopper, both using their powers to close the gate. That way it was somewhat different than S1 ending, where Eleven saves the day.

  23. I've seen a lot of good and legitimate criticism of smaller aspects of this season....but also some people saying it was just bad? Don't really see how you love the first season but don't get anything out of this one

I have a ton of little criticisms for both seasons, but definitely think they're on the same level of quality

I really want to know more about the shadow monster and how it relates to the original demagorgon

I feel like this one relied a little less on nostalgia in some key ways.

With the first season I saw many scenes and went “oh, that’s referencing movie X”.

I felt I did way less of that this year. So either it is less or the references are beyond things I am familiar with.

But not being able to do that didn’t have any negative impact for me. In fact, I liked that it felt a bit more fresh in that regard. Don’t get me wrong, there are still references here, but I feel like they scaled them back.
