I bought the digital edition that came with season pass for $5 off. You might want to go that route, or buy physical for $60 and then at some point get season pass. The season pass for this game seems interesting.

    Yes! Definitely!

But, I think it goes for $20 at some places from what I've heard.

Syndicate is easily one of the best games of the generation. It is the crowning achievement of traditional AC. I'm excited they went into a different direction now, especially when it comes to combat, but that doesn't change my opinion on Syndicate.

shouldn't have said "the last few were not so great" then :P i would very easily rec it :)
    yep yep pretty much

as for AC origins, it feels like horizon zero dawn/elder scrolls etc, like it feels more open world RPG than all the previous ones. it's very very loot heavy which is super fun for me. you can find all sorts of resources, weapons, currency, etc. it's very big on exploration. the side quests are all super interesting and have good stories and really memorable characters. Bayek is likable. t he setting is beautiful. i just keep taking screeenshots. the graphics are very, very good. i haven't encountered any major glitches so far. it's also really heavy on the culture, practices, and faith of the time, so you really feel like you're in ancient Egypt. they definitely put in a ton of time and research into history and i appreciate that. i'm level 8 atm. just finished the prologue. the combat is like For Honor-lite - parrying, blocking, dodging, heavy and light strikes.

but ofc, it's still very AC with the takedowns, assassinations, stealth, climbing, puzzle solving, etc. from what i've read of reviews, they've done away with the tailing and eavesdropping stuff, and you're not forced to do assassinations in a specific manner. so that sounds good. also, the modern day story has you playing in third person with a new character, just like the Desmond days. i'm glad they went back to that.

basically it seems really worth it that they took the year off, and i'm impressed.

I really enjoyed the Blood Ties DLC. I feel like anything that paused the gameplay to build on the lore killed the momentum of the main game, so it was nice to have a story-oriented DLC that was just about finding clues and taking time with them.

I fucking hate Lara's Nightmare. It ruins everything that made combat in the main game so fun. This isn't fucking Killing Floor. I didn't even bother trying to finish it, it's so goddamn frustrating, and for what? Coins to use in the Marketplace for more cards? Stupid.

If this is how the other combat-oriented DLC are, then I'm not interested. I... guess I'm done with this game.

Great! Moving on to The Witcher 3, then.

yep, due to the VA strikes i believe. shame the studio went ahead with a scabber, too, although i figure that was more within squenix's control.

I threw Just Cause 3 on yesterday and played for about an hour. Man, this game really is a blast and so overlooked. Looks gorgeous too.

What platform? Because the thing I remember is people saying that the main problem with the game is that it is a train wreck on consoles?

If Breath of the Wild wasn't already a reason to own the Switch (I know, I know, Wii U, blah blah), Super Mario Odyssey is THE reason.

Breath Of The Wild on what is essentially on a Game Boy is so wild, the WiiU version would be a real downgrade for me personally, though I'm happy they put it out in WiiU
