Annoying cause I got jet black plus day 1 last year and will be getting an X three weeks later this year.

 

Does anybody have any of the Apple silicone cases? I want to get one but every silicone case I've had for the iPhone has always had the bottom covered across both sides, not just the back. Not even worried about dropping it but more it feeling weird. I love my Belkin silicone case I have right now but there doesn't seem to be any available for the X

 

Well it’s like any form of insurance. You pay 10 dollars a month or whatever so if your screen breaks you don’t have to drop 280 dollars in one chunk, or heaven forbid 550 for the whole unit. Doesn’t mean I like paying insurance but I’m sure as hell glad to have it when I need it.

 

AppleCare+ also covers two accidents, and a full phone replacement is only $99. It’s definitely a solid deal, even at $199.

 

I have a black apple silicone that I love. It wraps around both sides and the top of the phone but leaves the bottom open. The bottom corners are protected but the speaker grill and port are completely uncovered. Since the bottom corners are protected and create a little lip I haven’t been too concerned about drops.

 

Does anyone use the iPhone Upgrade Programdirectly through Apple? I'm thinking about signing up for that over the holidays and going with a 64gb 8 for $35 a month. I haven't read a ton of this thread, so I'm sorry if it has already been discussed. I know AppleCare is included to some extent, but is that included in the $35? Any pros/cons would be appreciated.

 

Yeah I'm not even so much worried about drops as I am the feel of it. I might just get one and see how I like it if I end up not enjoying the case I bought on Amazon. It just looks unfinished to me if that makes sense? Maybe I'll just get one and see how I like it.

 

Yeah AppleCare+ would be included in that $35/mo under the IUP. The coverage would be the same as buying upfront if you weren’t on the IUP.

If anything I’d say it’s the opposite of unfinished. It’s very sturdy and the inside is lined with some sort of nice microfiber type material. It’s one of my favorite cases I’ve owned. Normally I buy a phone and get a couple cases and switch them around occasionally. But I bought this day one and haven’t switched. I think it’s definitely worth a try.

 

I'm thinking about getting an 8 or an 8+. Does anyone have an 8? Thoughts on the Camera?

well shit. I got the email to complete my order from last night and apparently I have 2 months left on my contract for the 7, which is weird because prior to last night both Verizon and Apple said I was eligible. already stretching the budget for this and can't really pay off the next 2 months right now.

so two months from now am I am screwed?

 

Turns out my order through sprint got cancelled. My account isn’t eligible for a two year contract even though they told I was.
Sprint charges 25 a month on top of the 549 contract price which is more than just buying the phone outright, which makes no sense. I’ve been happy with Sprint up until this ridiculousness. I was lied to so many times saying there wouldn’t be a fee on top of that price BECAUSE I’m signing a contract, but here we are! But I think my ship date is still 11/3 so that’s good at least.

TLDR;
Just buy the phone outright and don’t get locked in to anything. Shoulda learned this lesson when they stopped doing contracts a few years ago.

 

I bet production will ramp up in those two months and you may be able to get one? But that's a total guess.

 

I'll take it. Super disappointed but I'll live vicariously through all of you in the meantime.

 

I really hope I like it. Haha, it's so much money to not even know if FaceID works right or how I'll handle no home button. But I feel I really need to look at Chorus on it to make sure it looks/works right.

 

I need this “for work” is a genius reason to get it.

At least you can claim it’s a work expense on taxes.
