Ah that's a real shame I can only think of how many hours you've lost from that. I think being able to play a game like that handheld is where the switch is really shining for me. Where it's a game that's super fun to just jump in and out of that you can play handheld. I don't think I would've sunk anywhere near the amount of time into that compared to if I had it on ps4.

Also all the games I listed (apart from Odyssey which comes out tomorrow) are all out now for the console. I've not picked up Mario vs Rabbids yet but the whole Nintendo thread went crazy for it when it came out and it's had great reviews everywhere, it's a game in the gameplay style of x-com but a lot more lighthearted and fun.

 

Yeah as it’s very similar to Harvest moon I’ve played all of those and much prefer playing them on a handheld.

I’ll have to check it out! Was hoping they’d release a new harvest moon game on the switch or Trauma Center, I loved that on the Wii haha.

 

I always tend to find a PS1/2 memory card when I clean my room. Crazy that I could just plug in and pick up where I left off 10+ years ago.

 

Please remember that Harvest Moon games are no longer the real Harvest Moon games. Story Of Seasons (which is the Japanese name of the HM franchise) are now the real Harvest Moon games even outside of Japan. I'm telling you this because at some point both names will be on the eShop and the games named Harvest Moon will be horrible shovelware. "Harvest Moon: A New Beginning" for 3DS was the last real Harvest Moon game named Harvest Moon, after that one all actual entries in the real series are called Story Of Seasons even in the west. There was a falling out between the Japanese developer and the Western publisher Natsume (which owns the name Harvest Moon).

Haha no I have heard that already and forgot actually! I’m not sure I’ve played any story of seasons games yet.

 

Harvest Moon: A New Beginning (again, the last real HM game with the name) was a soft reboot of the franchise, and the two (or three?) Story Of Seasons games - all for 3DS - since then use the same engine and so on. They are better than the series has been in a while, but in my opinion not as good as the SNES, GBA and GCN games, not as good as Rune Factory 4 for 3DS (which is by the same people) and not as good as Stardew Valley. A Story Of Seasons game has been announced for the Switch.

Natsume also released games called Harvest Moon after A New Beginning and they're the worst kind of mobile shovelware.

 

I think I have A New Beginning on the 3DS. I noticed there’s a new game called Skytree Village..I’ll avoid that one! I’ll have to get one of the Story of Seasons games just seen a few on amazon. That’s another thing to make me want a Switch haha.

What went wrong with Lawbreakers?

"Bleszinski' believes the media is particularly keen to highlight any apparent failures his game sustains. He points to a general pessimism when it comes to certain new releases: "It's not cool to root for things"."

He's maybe not wrong, a few games a year are being sacrificed on the clicks altar, but the game is also tanking pretty bad despite what he says. It's a shame though, it looks like a fun game.

 

As someone who probably lurked NeoGAF a minimum of 20+ times a day, but only posted now and again since the community was so huge and overwhelming, I've been following the Resetera stuff the past few days and glad to see it seems to be working out. Did you (or anyone else here) get in? I wasn't close with anyone on GAF so have no actual "cred," but would love to be in and participating in Resetera from the get-go.

 

Getting into ResetERA already seems to be a struggle. I know they're getting overwhelmed.

I am so tempted to buy Wolfenstein II. I just keep thinking of how fucking fun the first was...but GTA V....but..

 

I got into ResetEra last night, probably not gonna post a ton (I prefer smaller communities) but I like having the option.

Really glad, but not at all surprised, to see that Mario and Wolfenstein delivered.

 

I tried to get in when it first opened, but it was requesting a "Secret Code." Now the sign-up option is gone entirely, so I guess it's in my best interests to check back periodically.

Brought my Switch to work today in hopes of getting some Zelda (or maybe Disgaea) in on lunch, but I already have a sneaking suspicion I'll end up dropping that time into Stardew Valley again.

 

I used my gmail to make an account, but that must not be allowed, so I think I'm screwed.

 

Yeah, the secret code was for the members of old GAF communities, they organized with them via discord to give them invites to the site earlier than open registration. It went open a few hours after it first opened.

Depends when you registered - there was a period of maybe a half hour, 45 minutes where they were unintentionally letting people register with free email accounts, when it was intended to be like NeoGAF where you can't. I got in with my Gmail, the verification email went to my spam so maybe check there if you haven't, just in case?

 

Nah. Nothing ever showed up. I tried to change my email address to my .edu one, but to no avail.

 

Aw, that sucks . Well, it'll open back up eventually, hope you get it in soon!

When it comes to reviews, I usually stick to ACG. His review for Wolfenstein has me SO excited.

 

I'm just gonna read news at resetera. Seems too insecure as there was a pastebin that contained every resetera member and the profile information that they provided such as xbl, twitter handle, etc.

 

we have a group of like 10 people at my work who all play Xbox and we were having a talk today about how hyped the OG Xbox games are.

A few of the buds have already picked up KOTR to play.
