This show was so beautiful last night. What an amazingly stacked lineup. Petal was fantastic and it was fun to see Kiley solo. I've only seen her perform with a band before. She was enchanting and just filled the room, which can pretty much be said about all the performers. Half Waif was really cool too. It was my first time seeing them and they have such an interesting vibe. And Julien was great too of course. Such a great voice, and you just feel every word she sings. The crowd was pin-drop silent for her performance too (unless they were singing), because we were all soaking up every word. She commented on it several times.

Very excited for this album. I wish I would've grabbed it last night, but I've been spending way too much money lately so I had to hold off unfortunately.

(Also Thalia Hall was an awesome venue. Never been there before, but I'm very excited to go back.)

 

Also, got to say hey to @ImAMetaphor for a quick second last night before some idiot nearly clocked a girl and caused a fight because he wanted to be in front but didn't want to wait in line.

 

I wasn’t totally aware of what was going on, but that dude was being a pain in the ass all night. He made me extremely uncomfortable.

 

He basically stood in front of the girl behind me and refused to move, even though he somehow barreled his way up to the front with no regard that she'd waited in line to be up front and he was easily a foot taller than her, and then proceeded to try and grab myself and the girl next to me's waist. Security grabbed him towards the end of JB's set after I tweeted the venue that someone needed to take him out.

 

Man. I’m sorry that happened to you. There’s no place for behavior like that at a show. I’m glad the creep didn’t ruin your night, at least.

 

Nah, wasn't gonna let him. Props to the venue though for being so observant. Other than that, perfect night.

 

Obviously that's inappropriate in any setting, but it's especially baffling to me that this took place at a Julien Baker concert. What goes on in these people's heads?

 

She's on this week's episode of Celebration Rock. It was a good interview and got me even more excited for the record. She seems very personable, engaging, and intelligent.

 

Pretty sure it's just the word "Me" repeated ad infinitum.

 

The entire show really was spectacular. She can command a room like few others. The new songs were beautiful as expected. I'd look out for Even (Berlin), Claws in Your Back, and Televangelist when the album finally comes out. All the new material was wonderful, but those three really floored me.

I was lucky enough to be able to get a setlist at the end of the night - the first time that's ever happened for me - and even luckier to be able to meet Julien. I almost thought it wouldn't happen. My girlfriend and I were some of the last people in the merch line, and then we spent about 10 minutes talking to Kiley of Petal (who is another wonderful human being). We were just about to leave when I turned a corner and saw Julien talking to some people. She was so so nice. I showed her my tattoo, and she loved it. She actually said that she was thinking about cutting Vessels from the setlist, but that she was glad she played it because of me, which was such a kind thing to say. She and Kiley also both complimented me on my Circa Survive shirt, which was cool.

It was seriously one of the best nights of my life, and I feel so fortunate to have been able to be there.

 

nothing makes me happier than super talented people that are also great/kind people. She seems so humble, and she seems so grateful just be playing her incredible music. She really may be a one of a kind artist that we talk about for a very long time.

 

One sort of bummer thing not related to the show is that I forgot that I need to replace the needle on my record player, so I actually can’t listen to the vinyl until it comes out on Friday or leaks. I’m not too upset though. Last night was more than enough to hold me over.

 

Wish I would've stuck around to at least say hi to Kiley, but it was sunday so I wanted to get home (and also I'm always too awkward in those situations anyway)

 

Kinda bummed I didn't stick around after but the rain was freezing.

I need this in my life right now. The weather the next few days looking cool and no sun.

 

I just listened to this and was super surprised at how energetic she was. At her shows (that I’ve been to) she is usually super melancholy and doesn’t say much. It was cool to hear about her process. I don’t think I could be more excited for this record, Friday come thruuuuu.

 

Did anyone get an lp from 6131? I'm curious how they came out
