Both are great, I'd go with play style you're most interested in as they are complete polar opposites I feel.

Polar opposite as in one is good and the other is...

But seriously, Doom was the most fun I've had in a very, very long time playing a game. I wish my backlog wasn't so big so I could run through it again.

i may get better but we won't ever get well Prestigious

they do give to charities, but for purchases from the store that's locked at 10% and for the monthly it's locked 5%. for bundles - which once upon a time was their bread and butter but now tend to play second fiddle to monthlies and the store - they'll give as much as customers allot. that can range from 0-100%; for a while, since the start, i think it would default to 20:15:65% charity:humble:devs, but now it defaults to 15:20:65%, shifting 5% of money from purchases left at default settings over to Humble from charity. again, though, the buyer can change those %s; whether or not they tend to, i'm inclined to think they leave it at default typically (might be numbers on Humble's site about how bundles tend to get split).

this combined with their significantly more aggressive marketing + sale consistency for monthlies and the store over bundles - which, again, those two revenue streams are locked at relatively low charity donations - puts them at the level of a very charitable business (quick googling looks like the top charitable companies range from 2-20% donation of income stream to charity), but squarely a business all the same. i dont necessarily begrudge them that, but i think it was a very crafty marketing plan that got them to where they are now, sitting on a stack of VC funding and quietly shifting the buyer's ability to directly donate to charity away without losing their appearance as being the "good underdog of gaming." (it looks like the charity donations are handled through paypal's charity system, which itself is murky, but more so on PP's end than humble's.)

i'm still happy buying from them (i only buy bundles and tend to bump up charity though), but this shift into IGNs hands is nothing surprising imo, and that it surprises gamers who thought of humble as a charity itself rather than a regular company with an emphasis on direct charity giving illustrates how savvy the plan was.

it's also worth noting that they're still pretty solid on giving devs a very fair cut, which i'm very glad for.

I stayed up till 3:30 two weeks ago to watch the USA/Panama game. And when the SF Giants were in the playoffs I'd wake up at like 4 or so to watch them before leaving to work at 6:45am. Let me tell you, teaching a bunch of little kids on minimal sleep is horrible.

My girlfriend is getting me the new South Park today for my birthday that was last week so I'm excited. I'm also depressed because I'm now 28 but I might as well have written this exact sentence when I was 16.

Just got to the inside of Bionis in Xenoblade. I'm enjoying it, but it's not grabbing me as much as I had hoped. Going to keep plowing through in hopes it does.

Got my copy of GTA V yesterday, loaded it up and played for 25 or so minutes in FP-mode.

SO MUCH FUN. Really excited to play through the game again, even though I 100% the singleplayer back in 2013. 4 years later, it feels fresh again. Will take my time with this.

can't be made fun of Prestigious

days late here but @DarkHotline the reason people are all mad about loot boxes in Battlefront II is because they replace a traditional progression system. They affect damage output, stat buffs, and weapon range. So you can shell out your $90 for the game and DLC pass and preorder skins and whatever else, but in order to maintain a competitive edge you will have to either devote your life to the cause or drop additional money on loot boxes and let RNG take the wheel. Comparing Overwatch to something like EA's practice just because they're both called loot boxes is pointless and normalizes the worse end of them, those two are on different planets.

I don't mind loot boxes for cosmetic stuff, it's kind of fun that way. But when it's giving me stuff that I need to progress/be competitive, yeah I get annoyed
